Terminator: Dark Fate has been nominated in two categories for the 21st Annual Golden Trailer Awards. The trailer awards themselves have many categories ranging from comedy, horror, thriller, video game, music and more.
The first nomination for Terminator: Dark Fate is the ‘Feature Film’ Action category.
Below are the films Terminator: Dark Fate is up against…
Feature Film – Best Action
1917, Universal Pictures, Motive
Army of the Dead “Aces”, Netflix, Wild Card
F9, “Path”, Universal Pictures, AV Squad
Nobody, “Return”, Universal Pictures, AV Squad
Spenser Confidential “New Roommates”, Netflix, TRANSIT
Terminator: Dark Fate “Talk”, Paramount Pictures, Create Advertising Group
The Old Guard, Netflix, Monster Creative LLC
The pandemic has slowed down numerous award ceremonies but it does seem slightly odd that F9 and Army of the Dead, both having been released this year (2021) are facing off against Terminator: Dark Fate from 2019.
The first trailer (teaser) for Terminator: Dark Fate was not received well by the majority of fans, however, the trailer nominated for the Golden Trailer Awards by Create Advertising Group was better received and garnered some much needed hype among the fanbase. The trailer still wasn’t enough to win everyone around, but, as with the teaser; it was indeed representative of the movie Tim Miller, James Cameron, Skydance and Paramount Pictures were making.
The Create Advertising Group did exactly what Paramount Pictures asked of them.
Digital / Home Entertainment – Best Home Ent Action
Terminator: Dark Fate is also nominated to win an award for a trailer which was put together for Paramount Pictures by Aspect Ratio to promote the home release of the movie.
Avengers: Endgame “Announce Trailer”, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, Tiny Hero
Avengers: Endgame “Target Wall”, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, Tiny Hero
Captain Marvel “Bonus”, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, Tiny Hero
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum Announce “Tick Tock”, Lionsgate Home Entertainment, Aspect Ratio
Terminator Dark Fate “Non Stop”, Paramount Home Entertainment, Aspect Ratio

I believe that the Backlash from the Original trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate may have added to the trailer’s non-win here. Many people were more than upset with the rather lackluster first trailer which featured the very slow and non-engaging rendition of singer Bjork’s “Hunter” song. It truly seemed to be a misfire, and in my opinion, help to set forth a lot of un-intentional negativity towards the film right from the get-go. When you think about how long it took to get Sarah Connor back and to be a Major part of the story again, we as fans needed the Correct music to go with this celebratory event. It was unwise to play around with the fanbase like that and especially so for not featuring the Terminator Theme in that trailer. With this rather unusual approach to the trailer music, many people just felt that they were going to be let down again like with the trailer. They just would not bite when it came down to seeing the franchise again in theatres. It’s my True wish that with ANY future installments to the franchise, they do this: They take the time out to leave any social agendas behind, and any other distractions, and just concentrate on making a Great Terminator movie. One which does not resort to gutting out any more of what we like about the franchise. Make one that is Respectful to the fanbase which has supported the franchise this far. If they did this from the start with the first trailer for Terminator Dark Fate, it could helped to generate the proper hype and help carry this film and help win this award.
