Pictures taken by actor Pedro Hernández Cruz have surfaced from the set of Terminator: Dark Fate – images which feature the make-up trailer. A stunt double mask for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 suggests a later stage of battle damage in the movie which of course will be digitally added in post as CGI.
The prop masks were painted by Academy Award winner Bill Corso (who also worked on Deadpool). It’s great to see the use of practical effects in Terminator: Dark Fate; as opposed to CGI facial mapping/face-swap in post.
Hopefully the fusion of practical effects and CGI is balanced and able to compliment each other in the finished movie.
Taken at the defunct Mercedes Benz car factory, this location will be Arius Motors when the movie is released – this is very likely to be the car manufacturing plant we saw in the first trailer with Grace smashing REV 9 around with a mallet.
Eagle eyed fans will notice Tim Miller is wearing a white hard hat, most likely belonging to Pedro’s character.
Also worth noting is these scenes also feature a worker with a ‘High Vis Jacket’…
Enrique Arce who appears to be playing the father of Dani Ramos and Diego Ramos, is also wearing the same orange ‘High Vis Jacket’ in a behind the scenes image. This leads us to believe that the family all work at Arius Motors…
Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) and Diego Ramos (her brother, played by Diego Boneta) both have jobs at Arius Motors in the movie, and you can also bet Arius Motors is the origin of LEGION (the new anti-terrorist program taking over from SkyNet on this altered/alternate timeline) somehow.
In an interview in November last year Pedro Hernández said:
“I just finished filming this story that was an experience for me, because nothing to do with the kind of films I’ve made; We work with a great production, an immense set, where they work with construction cranes because you find out that they are going to fly a trailer, as well as spectacular cameras, then the experience was fun and very pleasant, but also very amazing, everything was filmed in Budapest and they recreate a part of Mexico there. When I arrived I learned that I would be the manager of a factory, where the story takes place, ”
Pedro Hernández Cruz told Notimex
Pedro has stated that his role in T:DF is as the “manager of a factory” and we can clearly see from an image taken on the set that his character’s name in the new Terminator movie is ‘Silvio’ and he is the ‘Foreman’ of Arius Motors.
Pedro nearly didn’t take the Dark Fate role as he had offers of a few independent projects that interested him but he decided in the end to take Terminator: Dark Fate.
Thanks to cinema_might for the news tip…

I have to say…
It would be really, really poor and wonky writing if the origin of the evil A.I. is a car factory in Mexico City.
I’m not sure there’s any explanation or origin they can give me that will not cause me to roll my eyes, if it all starts in a car factory.
