We previously reported on the recent ‘news’ that Terminator 7 may have James Cameron back at the helm of a future war movie, and that Robert Patrick is being “eyed” to return in a future Terminator project as the T-1000 (albeit slightly modified) – well, now, the very same news source which brought those unsubstantiated rumors to the attention of the internet, reports that:
“According to our intel, discussions are already happening behind the scenes at Paramount about trying to resurrect the flagging franchise after three decades of disappointment, with John Cena and Margot Robbie being bandied about as potential candidates to bring some fresh blood to the Terminator series.”
We Got This Covered
So, if WGTC (yes, we’re covering them again, because we’re damned if we do, and damned if we don’t… ) are to be believed; James Cameron is making a Terminator movie set in the future war, with Robert Patrick reprising the role of the T-1000 (V2.0), and also starring Margot Robbie (Sarah Connor?) and John Cena (T-800?).
How very exciting! Pass me the salt…

These silly rumors aside. Why would the T1000 Need to be a different model? He’s a shape shifter and perhaps for Whatever reason he shape shifts into old R.P
The idea was to make the character transformative – to expand the scope of his abilities and to give him an upgrade; ironing out his previous weaknesses. We covered the fact he morphs into an older version of Robert in the original “Terminator: The Aging Process” article – enlarging upon the idea shared by McG of a SkyNet scientist coming into contact with the mimetic polyalloy. Plus there was only one T-1000 made and it was a last ditch attempt before SkyNet was destroyed (if we accept T2 as the end of canon).
For the love of all goodness left on this earth! Please No!!!!! Skydance and Paramount need to disappear. Terminator needs to be laid to rest. It was buried with Dark Fate. Why dig it out and destroy it even further. All that aside, a Terminator movie with Cena and Robbie sounds RIDICULOUS!
I like Robert Patrick in his role, but i think a lot of liquid metal was present in last movies) Will be cool if t800 were without flesh throughout the entire future movie and minimal actor presence like in Salvation. With full scale practical cgi effects. I think very interesting to see how endo speak and live, and not exist only in battle scenes.
A mi tambien me gustaria ver algo asi
A film like that would be PHENOMENAL and I would like it very much !!!!!
The really big problems that nobody understood after T1-2 are:
Nobody wants to see an old Terminator. They should stay ageless, strong and charismatic.
They should work permanent with young actors with same strong anatomy as Schwarzenegger, Biehn, Patrick and even Michael Edwards with their young faces in CGI.
We live in an era of improving 3D-technology, so use it the right way!
No CGI as possible for environment, damaging cars, Terminators (Endoskeleton) or anything. The reason why the first two movies worked is, they feel authentic and that scares the audience. No explosion is more real than a real explosion. The apocalyptic LA destruction scene is still (30 years) one of the best scenes ever. Am I wrong?
Stay faithful to the original atmospheric Soundtrack from Brad Fiedel. The Resistance Game made it absolutely correct and I love it for that. When they told Junkie XL is composing the next Terminator, I knew that will never work. He may be a good composer, but definitely not the right one for a Terminator movie. Stop changing things that work perfectly! If Mr. Fiedel doesn’t want to make it, find someone who expands his work the right way.
8 meters jumping from car to bus, to walls or whatever, feels not authentic. The T-1000 needed to speed up a motorcycle from the second floor to get to a helicopter. Because it is possible in reality. Terminators representing humans, no human can jump 8 meters high. These I-Robot, The Matrix or Marvel things doesn’t fit in the world of Terminators. They should stay mechanical and heavy.
The fights in Terminator 2 (and 3) are almost authentic. Yes, the T-1000 is made of liquid metal and he uses this advantage casually, but he fights almost like a real human would do. Damaging the environment (or each other) in this kind of fight is the best way.
A funny bearded Terminator named Carl doesn’t fit to a merciless machine. Even a Terminator can learn humanity, he remains a killing machine. Dry humor like in T1-2 are good enough (I’m not a fan of the failed smile scene of Arnold in the extended version). More fun can ruin everything and taking away the credibility.
Terminator originated from a time, that feels oldschool (in a positive way) in this era. I think the best way to make a really good sequel is, to stay in this epoch with new 80’s – 90’s ideas. Even grainy 35mm shots would give more character to this kind of movie.
So please Mr. Cameron, if you want to do it, go back in time and do it yourself. This franchise deserves a worthy end.
The main aspect is: Stay faithful, authentic AND, don’t kill John Connor again, until he saved humanity!
And the real Terminator Fans can live or die peacefully!
I’m not sure, if I can be happy for that news.
I like Morgot Robbie, but I can’t imagine her in a terminator future war movie.
Keep Linda and Sarah Connor? What was the point of casting her back after all these years??to then change the character yet again!! That’s what going to annoy the audience more then anything! Bring Arnold and Robert back in the picture but into the future, I think Sarah brings the t-800 back (Arnold) with some help from (Danni)to once again go into battle with the t-1000 (Robert) with the leader (Danni) and the protect (grace)
I was reading a article about one month ago. . Ridley Scott was originally going to direct T3 ? How close did we get to having a solid chance of a great sequel to T2 is anyone’s guess, I’ll say he didn’t like the script.
Here’s another article I just found regarding that story.

For all intents and purposes let’s all pray together that another installment doesn’t get filmed.
If only the original ending of T2 was the official ending, I’ll take that over everything else.
When we first heard that news back in the day, we were intrigued by the concept of Ridley directing Terminator 3, but following Prometheus and Alien: Covenant… our interest died at that possibility.
