Mackenzie Davis has not only gone through a physical transformation similar to that of Linda Hamilton in 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day (is that Sarah’s vest?) but she is also showing extreme battle scars in these exclusive images of shooting in Madrid (Spain) over at JustJared.com.

In a description for her character a while ago it was stated:

According to insiders, Davis would be one of the new faces of rebooted franchise, in the vein of Schwarzenegger’s robotic assassin.

We have always presumed that her character is from the future but is she a human resistance soldier or a machine (female protector?). She has scars so her flesh is seemingly real, she could be a hyperalloy-combat chassis like Arnold’s T-800 with a metal Endoskeleton underneath flesh.

What can we say… we like the scars- they aren’t pretty but Mackenzie rocks them well and looks cool and solid. We have no complaints about the project so far and remain open minded.

The scars also reinforce that her character looks likely to be “Grace” from the Dani Ramos audition script. As a scene played out with the characters talking about scars. The character of Grace also used the word “Affirmative”.

Grace studies Dani as she traces the line of the scar with
    her finger.

    GRACE

You wanted to understand where I
    come from? You already do.

    Dani’s eyes meet Grace’s for a moment.

    DANI

My mother told me scars make the
    skin stronger.

This is good: imaginative, and relatively original. Paying this much attention to detail bodes well for the production.

I like how little touches like this tease a little of the future world, and its peculiarities — not explaining too much, nor retconning existing lore.
