A new trailer has landed for the Terminator: Resistance story expansion DLC titled ‘Terminator: Resistance Annihilation Line‘. The official press release states that the story picks up mid-way through the original game’s campaign and will see players once again assume the role of Terminator: Resistance’s protagonist Jacob Rivers, as he joins Kyle Reese on an important mission which has been set by John Connor.

Fans of the first two Terminator movies and Terminator Salvation will surely be pleased with this DLC and its content. It’s nice to see the return of Salvation’s T-600‘s and the un-used James Cameron HK Centurion concept.

    The official press release follows…

TERMINATOR: RESISTANCE ANNIHILATION LINE DLC COMING THIS DECEMBER

VENTURE BEYOND THE LINE OF FIRE TO COMPLETE AN ESSENTIAL MISSION LED BY HERO OF THE RESISTANCE KYLE REESE

London, UK –  November 23rd, 2021: UK video game publisher Reef Entertainment is excited to announce ANNIHILATION LINE, a new narrative DLC campaign for the PC and PlayStation®5 versions of TERMINATOR: RESISTANCE.

The DLC will be available to purchase digitally from Steam® and the PlayStation Store worldwide on December 10th. Those who already own Terminator: Resistance either physically or digitally on PlayStation®4 can upgrade to the PlayStation®5 version for free.*

ANNIHILATION LINE picks up mid-way through the main campaign story. The Resistance has just defeated their first Infiltrator, but for Jacob Rivers, there’s no time to rest up. Orders have come down from John Connor himself that he is to assist in the investigation of Northridge Outpost, a civilian settlement which has mysteriously gone silent.

Why did no-one from Northridge attempt to radio in? Is this the work of Skynet? And are the civilians still alive? To find answers, Rivers and a small team of Resistance soldiers led by Connor’s right-hand man Kyle Reese, must head into the most dangerous territory imaginable…the land beyond the Annihilation Line.

    *not available in Asia.

‘THE TERMINATOR’ was released in 1984 and is widely regarded as a science-fiction classic, launching a beloved franchise that has been expanded on via a variety of media and further movies. A humanoid cyborg from a future dominated by machines is sent back in time to kill the mother of the as-yet-unborn rebel leader John Connor. Meanwhile, the rebels also select an agent to travel back in time and stop the Terminator, thereby ensuring that events follow their pre-ordained course.

‘T2: JUDGMENT DAY’ was released in 1991 and was an immediate worldwide box office success. Continuing the tale, T2 remains at its heart a classic science fiction tale featuring robots running amok, time travel paradoxes and dystopian future worlds. Opening to huge fanfare, T2 went on to become one of the highest-grossing, Academy Award winning, and most culturally iconic science fiction motion-pictures of all time.

Well, this is it! We never got the future war we wanted on the big screen, but we’re getting it in a solid, AA videogame that wasn’t abandoned. Great news for Terminator fans.

I have to be honest that I am massively disappointed that the leak didn’t come true that we’d get multiplayer in the game. I enjoyed the infiltration mode a lot, but it seemed like too fun a concept to leave to just one level. Would have loved some sort of drop in multiplayer that allowed for playing as the Terminator. Especially considering they already made the model and HUD for the Terminator. Just seemed like so much work for just one level. It is wasted potential left on the table and it deserved more integration into the overall game.

I’m not saying the game needed to be made into team death match or something. It didn’t need it to be Terminator 3 War of the Machines or anything like that. But, the ability to drop into a big map with the Infiltrator would have rocked. Even playing as Jacob would have been more fun if I knew a player controlled Infiltrator was trying to track me down. It would force me to play through the level more quickly, as I couldn’t just snipe shoot the T-800s and run away. I’d have to conserve ammo in case the Infiltrator found me. I don’t know. It just feels like it would have added a fun multiplayer twist to the already great game play.

Not only did I want to play as the Terminator more, I usually find single player games boring for no other reason than once I’ve finished it… I’m done. It takes away a lot of replayability to the game because the game becomes so predictable. The only real reason to play again is to beat it on harder levels. I already beat the game on Easy and Normal. I’m about half way through on Hard. So, I don’t imagine Extreme to hold my attention for much longer once I beat Hard; if I even keep playing.

I’ve already pretty much mastered the idea of finding the sniper early game and just fighting the machines long distance with the sniper to avoid any real risk of combat. Turns out you can shoot a T-800 series about twice in the head and it’s pretty much dead. Which isn’t that hard to do with mouse control. If I miss, just run away and hide until I’m no longer detected and try again. So, I’ve basically learned how to kite the Terminators and that has made play throughs a lot quicker and easier than I imagined they would be.

The base game is fun. But, it certainly is an experience where once you discover where to find the good weapons and what order to build your skill tree; it becomes very repetitive.

Aside from that, the DLC looks cool and I might get it. I enjoyed the original game a lot and it is certainly the best Terminator game there ever was. It looks more combat oriented than the base game was, which will be nice. Hopefully the DLC will eventually come to GOG like the base game.

I’m just so sad to see multiplayer not happening. A real missed opportunity to keep play throughs fresh and show off the Infiltrator more.

Actually it would work epicly with a 30 to 2(AMONG US) style gameplay. Humans get map objectives. With 2 undamaged infiltrator terminator players among them with the objective to kill them all. If terminator is undamaged, you can use stealth easy, but if terminator gets damaged their skin deteriorates which will make the game harder due to being spotted easy as the IMPOSTOR.
