If you like T3/Arnold Schwarzenegger or maybe you’re a collector of Terminator items; keep reading because there is some light at the end of the tunnel for this Exclusive release by Zavvi.
The Negatives (The Movie):
Nothing about this release by Zavvi is negative apart from (possibly) personal movie taste/preference. The presentation is fantastic, the Blu-Ray movie is presented in widescreen format with high quality picture- which is all good.
I would have loved if the movie had taken itself a little more seriously; if it had more integrity, if Kristanna Loken had been allowed to portray a darker assassin and had been directed better in the way of her character… it would have been nice if the movie had been directed better in general. I had higher hopes for Jonathan Mostow after seeing Breakdown (I like to research Directors and Actors who get involved with the thing I love)… Loken outperforms Arnold in T3.
Stan Winston and his team’s work was wasted on this movie and not even an appearance from Earl Boen as the classic Dr Peter Silberman can save this crap-fest…The lack of Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor echoes constantly but she definitely did the right thing by not starring in this movie and her absence echoes loudly from start to finish.
This is simply an average Arnold Action movie.
The steel book comes shrink wrapped with an external information sheet on the outside… Once you open this it kinda becomes a loose thing that you can’t even put inside the case without folding or damaging… I think Zavvi should consider future releases to just feature a small 2-4 page booklet instead; once opened can be re-inserted inside the steelbook.
First off this is one of the nicest releases of T3 available… the disc and content itself is exactly the same as previous Blu-Ray releases including T3 featured in the Terminator Quadrilogy release.
The steel book case itself is actually quite cool featuring the T-850 on the front and the T-X on the back, the movie’s title is embossed in the metal for a 3D effect.
Not only do you get the disc but you also get a digital copy of the movie with an Ultraviolet copy, another touch we liked about this is the little coupon/leaflet inside featuring the artwork of the T-850.
Arnold is framed with a kind of indentation effect on the front. Arnold’s name in red is not embossed but instead in a metallic red that glistens. So if you are a fan of Arnold or Kristanna- this is a must own.
The spine of the steel book features the title of the movie in the official font and style, we actually liked the fonts and effects used for T3 marketing. Actually having the title on the spine of this release adds quality.
Opening up the release will also reveal another Arnold surprise; a particular image of Arnold walking in a corridor at CRS (Cyber Research Systems) labs this was one of the better promotional stills used for Terminator 3 of Arnold as the T-850 and the image does indeed fill the entire inside of this steelbook behind the inner transparent plastic inserts. A very nice touch!
So what the movie lacks in quality Zavvi have definitely made effort to give us more in the quality of the packaging and the way this release is presented.
While we wouldn’t recommend you buying T3 again- if you already own it, this release does get our approval for collectors as this is a nice classy release.
The disc art and features, as mentioned, are exactly the same as before except for the box, the quality and the nice leaflet/coupon inside.
The extras are plenty; the steelbook is great. For these reasons we totally recommend you add this to your collection even if you don’t like T3 that much.
More great news is this Steelbook is now available at a very reasonable price… so GO, GET IT NAOW!
