So, by now you should have seen Terminator: Dark Fate and, well, the movie is most likely going to be remembered for one scene in particular -and that is the death / termination of John Connor.
Seeing as Terminator: Dark Fate touted itself as being the true sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a young version of Edward Furlong’s John was brought to life by the use of CG trickery to make audiences witness the on-screen death of a beloved character from one of the most successful sequels of all time.
So what did Edward Furlong actually think of this?
Youtuber, and fan, Alex Leyba was lucky to get some time with Edward at a recent convention and the result was some honest thoughts from Edward…
“They smoked my ass. That’s what they did right? That was the role. I went in there… I did it for a day, I shot for one day. And, yeah, we did some CGI. They paid me. So, I mean, ya know. It kinda bums me out. Cause I’d love to do a whole one and make a shit-ton of money. Yeah, I would love to do more, but we’ll see what happens.”
Edward Furlong
While Edward is hardly ecstatic about the demise of his role in Dark Fate; he did get paid and he did participate, even if only for a day – if he had been totally against it he could have refused to participate in the performance capture.

Edward is such a good sport about the whole thing, i wish i was this chill and nonchalant.
“SMoked my ASS” stay classy Eddie.
That quote is not by Edward furlong, it’s by the body double kid who did Dark Fate?
Negative. This quote was said by Edward. The proof is in the video.
Oh my god, this was such a bad script decision because it makes all the investment and journey of Terminator 2 seem somewhat pointless right ? How much better would the beginning have been if Sarah and John were on screen for five minutes with a story worth while and enjoyable ?
To think that James Cameron announced Edward Furlong returning as John Connor seemed like such a reward for the fans and to spike interest but only to terminate the leader of the future resistance ASAP.
Just sad.
By smoking his ass, they smoked the franchise.
Can you please discard the comment box because no one can have a written comment voiced unless USE agree with what is written. This is not the terminator fans which implies exactly that right ? This website is about your own personal views and free opinion’s are ignored.
One of the most interesting things for me in regards to the fallout of this whole mess is the near-complete silence when it comes to James Cameron’s false advertisements of Edward getting back on track, Tim Miller took the majority of the toxicity and heat for it but Cameron managed to get out unscathed despite sharing a significant amount of blame (especially with his big lie on Edward’s return), it would be interesting to see how Cameron’s besmirched rep (let’s not forget his bullshit endorsement of Genisys 4 years before Dark Fate was a reality) will effect his upcoming series of Avatar movies, the Avatar of 2009 was a massive success but can he replicate that again ? especially with all that happened since then ?
to be fair to Cameron, Battle Angel Alita was a pretty good movie (compared to DarkFate) because Cameron and Rodriguez had a smooth, working relationship on the project (unlike with Tim) and it’s reflected on the final movie cut.
