Recently Terminator: Dark Fate star, Mackenzie Davis, was interviewed by NME about her latest project, the political comedy / drama ‘Irresistible’ which stars Steve Carrell and is directed by comedian, Jon Stewart.
During the interview the subject of Terminator: Dark Fate arose, with NME asking Davis about the possibility of a sequel…
“You’ve been in a few dystopian sci-fi films though, Terminator: Dark Fate for example – is there a sequel coming?”
NME
“I really loved the movie and I’m so proud of what we did, but there wasn’t a demand for it [at the box office] and to think that there’d be a demand for a seventh film is quite insane. You should just pay attention to what audiences want – and they want new things and I want new things.”
Mackenzie Davis
To clarify Ms. Davis’ nullification of a Terminator 7, NME asked:
“So that’s a no, then?”
NME
“There are many interesting people that don’t fit the mould of those who make these big franchises who have not had the chance to make movies. We should be investing in them right now.”
Mackenzie Davis
Terminator: Dark Fate was set to kick off a new trilogy of movies which were to ignore installments 3, 4 and 5 and act as a baton-pass to the next generation; with Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) stepping into the shoes of John Connor as the leader of the Resistance in the war against (the SkyNet clone) LEGION.
Note: Mackenzie didn’t deny the original intention of Grace being an active participant in T7 by means of Dani Ramos and Sarah Connor averting her death by changing the present – as previously suggested by James Cameron in an interview to promote Dark Fate:
“We have a plan for what happens next with Sarah, we have a plan for what happens next with Dani, we have a plan for – how they cross paths with Grace again.”

As a an extreme terminator fan to the franchise, I want to see the story continue into the future war, I want to be as memorable as the first 2, give it a chance people😎
There is demand… Just not for woke rubbish. It’s exactly the same story as T2, but you’ve cut and paste John Connor as a 5 foot tall woman, Sarah Connor as a bitter feminist, Schwarzenegger as comic relief, and Patrick as generic male #4. Why can’t you open your eyes? We want to be entertained, not insulted and preached to.
Let’s be realistic, a few hundreds of Terminator enthusiasts over the Internet is not really what I’d call “demand”.
You need to remember that the fanbase is fractured into many different ‘types’ of fans. Not all fans will turn out for the types of movies Hollywood is making ‘now’ but there are definitely more than a few hundred Terminator fans out there!
I’m sure it means little to her…she had never even seen Terminator before she became a crucial piece of the “new” mythology. It’s no loss to her..She’s right that there was no demand in what they were selling, but since she has no frame of reference to how precious Terminator was to people, she won’t understand how badly we wanted them to make a good one.
YOU SHOULD DO TERMINATOR VERSUS ROBOCOP OR TERMINATOR VERSUS PREDATOR
