Activision have been using social media to tease upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone appearances of Rambo and John McClane (Die Hard). A Call of Duty ‘leaker’ has however, for the last few days, been teasing (or at least suggestively pointing to), The Terminator arriving in Warzone.
Season Three of Warzone has kicked off with a Verdansk ‘84 trailer. Yes, 1984 is obviously a decent starting block for a Terminator showing up…

We have to be honest and say that, ever since Terminator: Dark Fate, we’ve been feeling kind of jaundiced towards the corporate marketing tactics of leaking… It’s starting to feel a little old and obsolete. Wouldn’t fans like to go back to old fashioned surprises?
Call of Duty: Warzone and it’s reputation for hackers and cheating doesn’t really engender much excitement either, it appears that instead of actually fixing any issues that the game has, Activision is actively looking to paint over the cracks with new DLC content which will draw in other fanbases, with their favorite characters / franchises, to a potentially negative experience.
As Terminator Fans it’s always good to see the franchise gain acknowledgement in popular culture, but hopefully if the ‘leaks’ turn out to be true, this isn’t yet another disappointing stunt to follow the other failed attempts which have been made by the people in charge of the ip to reach gen Z – without taking the fanbase as a whole into account.

Update:
As you can see above, leaker Tom Henderson removed his tweet linking to 1984’s The Terminator theme. We reached out to Tom for comment and received no response.
