I admit that I liked Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. I liked the TX and Nick Stahl as John Connor. The only taint of the movie for me was Claire Danes as Katherine Brewster. One big thing that the majority of the fandom hated about the movie was that it was more comedic than the first two films.
So when J.K. Simmons talked with Total Film and emphasized the comedy of Terminator: Genesis I got nervous. I got really nervous that this was yet another Terminator sequel that the majority of the fandom wouldn’t like.
Not only is it an unneeded reboot, but now the worst quality of T3 is being emphasized over everything else in the film… ?
Simmons was very quiet over his actual role in the film. At one point he nearly slipped and said who he was going to be. But he saved himself by laughing and saying he couldn’t say anything about his role at the moment other than the character he is playing is new to the franchise and has not been featured in any of the other previous movies. He also said the words ‘stand alone’ which is a term that has been used in the last press release from Paramount Pictures.

I’ve been doing research on this movie and from what I gather, J.K. Simmons will be playing a role from the first terminator movie. remember the two detectives that were investigating the murders and met with sarah connor? Traxler was the black guy and Vukovich was the white guy that most of us remember as the android from the Aliens movie. Well when the terminator assaulted the police station and killed all the cops, apparently Vukovich ( the slim white detective) somehow survived. and his character, originally played by Lance Henriksen, is to appear in Terminator: Genisis portrayed by J.K. Simmons. I can’t 100% confirm this but everything I’ve read so far points to him playing this character. I think its pretty cool that they are bringing back a character from the first film. I wish there was a way they could work in Michael Biehn (Kyle Reece) but this is 30 years later so it isn’t gonna happen. He is probably way too busy with his film production company Blanc-Biehn Productions that he runs with his wife Jennifer. I’ve seen some of their work, it is pretty entertaining. anyways, sorry to ramble on.
