While promoting his new movie Aftermath, Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke to Fandango in a round of interviews… and of course the subject of Terminator 6 was going to crop up.

    Aftermath Movie Schwarzenegger

Schwarzenegger stated the following about Terminator 6:

“I’m looking forward to doing another Terminator movie, yes.” Arnold said. When we asked him whether or not the recent news that the Terminator franchise would be ending, he scoffed. “I don’t want to call it, like, fake news, like the president calls it, but I think people just write things — I have no idea why. Just because Paramount doesn’t want to pick up the Terminator franchise, you have 15 other studios willing to do it — that doesn’t mean the Terminator franchise is finished, right? It just means they are on their way to negotiate with another studio, but I can’t give you the details of that. They’ll announce that. But, yes, the Terminator franchise is never finished. And remember that after 2018, James Cameron is getting it back, and then it will continue on!”

On the subject of Terminator moving forwards Schwarzenegger continued on to say:

“Cameron will be producing it, and there will be another director on it,” he said. “I’m always looking forward to doing another Terminator, especially if the story is written well and it’s really entertains the whole world.” He then added that both a new Conan and a sequel to Twins, called Triplets, are also in active development. “And the same is the case with doing another Conan or Triplets — both those films are being worked on, too.”

So, there we have it- Skydance Productions is currently moving in on negotiations with a new home for Terminator 6’s production, could this involve Universal to permit the involvement of The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day’s producer Gale Anne Hurd? Gale is contractually locked in with Universal, we believe her involvement is just as important as Jim Cameron’s…

Could 20th Century Fox already be locked in? (After all it is Jim’s second home after his Lightstorm Entertainment) Jim is also contractually bound  in some sense to 20th Century Fox (Avatar Sequels) so perhaps that deal is already secretly locked down? Could there be a co-operation from both Universal and 20th Century to work together with Paramount Pictures in a mutual deal which benefits Terminator and the hardcore fans (that could be nice to see) or will Terminator be going into deeper indie studio territory of low budget R Rated heaven once again with a more obscure indie studio? Could the elite studios of Fox, Universal and Skydance give Terminator 6 the independent treatment but add some extra dollar sprinkles on top to ramp up some great action and real practical effects to astonish audiences once again with an art form that makes Terminator perhaps believable and irresistible once again?
