20th Century Fox is reviving their Predator franchise. Shane Black is attached to direct and write the treatment, while Fred Dekker will be responsible for the script.
Besides being a Terminator fan, I am a huge science fiction fan. I will usually only step out of the sci-fi genre for a good fantasy book. So Terminator is not the only sci-fi series I am into, another one is the Predator series.
True, I’m not as deeply attached to the series as I am Terminator. But that isn’t to say that I will not drop what I am doing to watch it. The original designs of the Predators are creepy and good looking. This is, of course, all thanks to Stan Winston. Winston who Terminator fans should be very familiar with.
Winston got involved with Predator when Arnold Schwarzenegger, an old friend of his, asked Winston to do the Predator outfit in six weeks. Winston did his job and now we have the classic Predator which is one of his most memorable creations.
The upcoming Predator film is a sequel, although many people are thinking it’s going to be a reboot. Shane Black has stated he didn’t want to do a reboot of the franchise because of the vast mythology the Predator series has already.
Whether this film succeeds or fails, I’m just glad there’s someone out there that realizes you don’t have to do a reboot.
So what do we have to look forward to in the sequel? I, and many others, think that it would be good if Schwarzenegger returned. He was the original person in the series to fight and win against a Predator. Plus it would be nice to catch up with what his character has been doing since the end of the first film.
So even if Schwarzenegger is just relegated to a cameo- to a lot of fans that would be more than acceptable. I would just really like to see him return and star in another Predator film.
And it isn’t like he’s one to pass up a chance to be in one of the sequels to movies he’s been in. He will be in Terminator: Genesis (which will possibly become known as Terminator), so why not the new Predator movie also?
I only want the best for this film and hope it does well. It will be great seeing a Predator on the screen.

i’d like him to star in it also. but please for the love of god don’t make it a reboot. make it a continuation of the series. even though Predator 2 wasn’t that great it’s still better than the AvP movies.
btw what did people think of the 3D conversion of Predator? i thought it was acceptable, though parts of it weren’t done right and you could tell it was a bit of a rush job.
