The PS4 to PS5 upgrade is available on launch (April 30th, 2021) despite information / concerns previously put out by Reef Entertainment.
For Terminator Fans who were looking forward to getting their free upgrade of Terminator: Resistance ENHANCED for PS4 to PS5; it looks very much like you may well be waiting another month before you can experience the game for free on Sony‘s next gen console.
Reef Entertainment put out the following on social media:
Important info for PS4 owners of Terminator: Resistance – it is possible that the free PS4 to PS5 upgrade of TERMINATOR: RESISTANCE ENHANCED could arrive later than planned, and may not be available for the release of the title on PS5. More information: (https://t.co/JavUgLGn0q)

The full press release states:
“As you are likely aware, those who already own a PS4 copy of the game will be receiving a free upgrade for TERMINATOR: RESISTANCE ENHANCED on PS5, and we are very grateful to SONY’s PlayStation teams for assisting us in this upgrade project.

However, as ENHANCED was developed after the release of the PS4 version, we have recently been informed that there is some additional work that needs to be done on SONY’s side to ensure that the upgrades from PS4 to PS5 happen smoothly.
As of the moment, we have not been given a final date on when SONY will be able to complete this. As a result, there is a strong possibility that the PS4 to PS5 upgrade will not be available for the launch of TERMINATOR: RESISTANCE ENHANCED on April 30th and will follow a short time later.
Please be assured that we are doing all we can to get this upgrade ready and available for you as soon as possible, and we will update you via our social media channels as progress develops.“
This will be disappointing news for anyone who played T:R on PS4 and was hoping to experience the game and its DLC, with the PS5’s ‘enhanced’ graphics at the launch of ENHANCED (sadly Infiltrator Mode for Terminator: Resistance, ENHANCED and other future DLC’s, will not be releasing on PS4, Xbox One or Xbox Series X / S).
Hopefully the delay of this upgrade means that the transition from last gen will be smooth and seamless when it does release.
