Gale Anne Hurd Talks About New Terminator Movie Collaboration with James Cameron

We always love to hear Gale Anne Hurd talk about the Terminator property; Gale is one of the true elite, she was there right from the very beginning producing/co-writing The Terminator and believing in it and we as fans are eager for her to be back producing a Terminator movie that fans can actually be proud of.

While Jim Cameron has shifted opinion on subsequent sequels and his lack of involvement- Gale has always kept the same stance and has over the years and has expressed disappointment in not being involved in the franchise that she helped to conceive and bring to life.

Gale Anne Hurd is a name we respect, a name we trust and nothing pleases us more than to hear her mention getting the Terminator series “back”.

“Jim Cameron has an exclusive deal with 20th Century Fox, my deal is with Universal, so [right now] there’s no collaborating,”

Hurd said at a screening of her TV series, Fear the Walking Dead

She has made no secret in her marriage separation from Jim and she did not let personal issues or the breakdown of the relationship effect work,- however it was decided that it would be appropriate to finish working on ‘The Abyss’ and ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ before heading for separate ventures and projects.

A hardcore Terminator fan will know that both Gale and Jim have maintained a close friendship and both attended the 30th Anniversary screening of The Terminator together.

What’s even more exciting is that Gale has stated she would be interested in re-teaming with Jim Cameron on a new film… and yes, the Terminator co-creator mentioned TERMINATOR!

“On the other hand, we’re still close friends – and I hosted him and his son on the set of The Walking Dead. One day, you never know – maybe one day we’ll get Terminator back.”

This would truly be the ULTIMATE re-team for the Terminator series, this would mean a REAL TERMINATOR MOVIE… 100% Fucking LEGITIMATE; not this PG-13 cash-in nonsense which encourages the taking of sticky-fingered-children to watch a socialized, sanitized  and dumbed-down version of a once fierce machine – leaving a faint and forgettable impression; one that doesn’t satisfy a hardcore fanbase that crave some realistic Hard-R sci-fi horror and a meaty bloody storyline.

At this point if we are to be interested in the Terminator property and its future as a respectable brand; we need Jim Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd to be in charge. We’re out of patience now and we’re still waiting for a 3rd movie to complete the story for fans. As fans of this property we would love to see Jim and Gale make a sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day and for it to be the most successful Hard R Rated movie ever at the box office.

While T2 was a higher grosser at the box office, The Terminator 1984’s cult horror status is huge and still growing, we want hardcore ultraviolence to show how ruthless these Terminators actually are in a movie that is no parody.

If Jim and Gale make more Terminators they could reboot the series but our preference would be to put Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger back to the top of their game. People really just want to see Arnold actually portraying the horror icon that is The Terminator again and who better to take him on than Sarah and John in 2020 perhaps. As always we can happily ignore all the sequels. If Gale did not produce it and Jim didn’t direct it… IT IS NOT CANON.

Gale also mentioned how she and Jim did not give up on the first Terminator movie (finding funding/studio support):

“We were turned down probably 99 times,” she said. “But we kept knocking on those doors and the 100th time, someone said yes.”

We can only ask 20th Century Fox and Universal to please have a meeting about this.

What do you think about the original creators possibly returning to the series in 2019 to make a T2 sequel/Terminator movie? Comment below…

We just want something that feels true, that continues the story we bought into and doesn’t erase the timeline we followed or take the fucking piss. The clear winner of our poll a while back also like us favored the idea of a T2 sequel with Jim in the directors seat.

Things were different in 1984 and 1997. That is why The Terminator was shocking and successful. Recreate that and we have a story.
