An image of Terminator: Dark Fate’s REV-9 was recently circulating the internet which is part of a ‘mini-poster’ promotion for the movie in Japan. The reason we weren’t quick to share was that the original photographer had their image taken and manipulated. The original image was a photograph of the posters at an angle (below).
To give the effect of a poster image; a missing shoulder was replaced with a copy paste of the other shoulder – to give the illusion of a full poster. This gave REV-9’s body a symmetry that the original poster does not have, as Asia is quite fond of ‘A-Symmetry’. We wanted to give the appropriate credit to the correct source, so we did not share the doctored/manipulated image.

The mini-poster is 2 sided, one side of the poster features Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and the other features REV-9 (Gabriel Luna’s Endoskeleton).
This poster reminds us of a Terminator 2 Endoskeleton promotional shot from back in the day of the iconic T-800. While the REV 9 doesn’t reach the greatness of the practical magic from Stan Winston and his team (below), this (REV-9) and the Sarah Connor poster (walking the distant highway) are superior to posters we received from the last 3 Terminator movies (our opinion).
We hope Terminator: Dark Fate can make us fans of the REV-9 but to be completely honest all the Terminator movies (even the bad ones) have pretty interesting villain designs, so we do have hope that it will be good.
Terminator: Dark Fate, or Terminator: New Fate (as it is known in Japan) will hit theaters on Friday November 8th 2019.
