Sabotage was released on Monday the 15th of September. Our UK Schwarzenegger Fans can now own the movie on either Blu-Ray or DVD. We were sent a copy of the movie to take a look at and the DVD release does not disappoint.
The USA got a 3 combo pack comprising of a Blu-Ray Disc, a DVD Disc and an Ultraviolet Digital Download Registration Key allowing you to have the movie on a device of your choosing. The US Blu-Ray had alternative endings that the DVD did not have. Lionsgate UK have made this much simpler by making both the DVD and Blu-Ray the same in features, so for those of you that still have not made the leap into Blu-Ray then the DVD edition will please you and you won’t feel like you are missing out on anything because you are not.
We actually saw this release last month before the official packaging had been finalized thanks to Lionsgate UK.
Originally we believed that there would be a lenticular release but it doesn’t seem to have happened, the final artwork is however satisfying and your DVD or Blu-Ray will come in a nice cardboard sleeve mimicking the regular DVD sleeve artwork to protect your movie case.
The DVD menu you get on the UK release is better than the USA DVD menus hands down opting for a orange/yellow tone in the menus, music can be heard on a loop that sounds like something from a Terminator movie. It makes the Universal US release DVD menus look very tacky as this has polish. Lionsgate UK have done a good job representing this R Rated product.
Sabotage governs huge respect on this website because it was Rated R. Schwarzenegger does a great performance and the alternative endings will show a side to Schwarzenegger you have not seen before. This movie has gore for all the right reasons, it makes the movie more authentic and the story stand up to scrutiny. Sabotage is glimpse of what Arnold should be doing with his career by providing his hardcore fan base with the R Rated movies they want and deserve.
The movie itself is a mystery thriller and takes so many twists and turns as the plot progresses, you will see Arnold go into Terminator mode at some points in the movie and it shows us that nothing is more exciting than the possibility of again seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger in an R Rated Terminator movie as an unstoppable killing machine.
Sabotage is a movie that will keep you guessing, it is Arnold’s best movie for a long time. It isn’t gory for gores sake, it is integral to the story as it should be.
Home Release sales of Sabotage will determine what types of Schwarzenegger movies we will see in the future… so make sure you get your copy of Sabotage to show Hollywood we want more R Rated Arnold Action!
Sabotage on DVD or Blu-Ray (UK Edition) is a worthy addition to any Schwarzenegger collector; so if you’re in the USA get in touch with a credible importer because this DVD release is a must for the difference it has to your currently owned US release of the movie.
Overall the movie has plus points and negative ones also but the concept and quality of this movie is much better than previous Schwarzenegger titles and is a continued step in the right direction for Schwarzenegger’s movie career returning to form. Lionsgate UK did the release justice and we hope they get some involvement with distributing future Terminator Home Releases.
