Terminator Anime Writer Uses T2 3-D Schwarzenegger Doll As Inspiration + Script Tease

Terminator Anime Writer Uses T2 3-D Schwarzenegger Doll As Inspiration

Mattson Tomlin, writer and showrunner of the upcoming Skydance and Netflix Terminator Anime, is visiting his childhood home and has dished up some nostalgia bait for Terminator Fans, a doll of Arnold Schwarzenegger from Terminator 2: Judgment Day‘s theme park attraction Terminator 2 3-D: Battle Across Time.

No, apparently the doll wasn’t a recent ebay purchase…

“I got this guy when I visited Universal studios when I was 10 years old. Right after doing T2 Battle Across Time!”

Here are more images of the T-800 Terminator collectible that was made in 1997.

Also in the image is the other half of the front page of script which Mattson recently teased, and seemingly reinforces the possibility of Schwarzenegger having a role in this Netflix series, whether that be large or small in regard to voice work; the T-800 should have plenty of reference in the plot.

So, now we can now piece together both halves of the front of the script – the date has changed, a second draft? Or was the first image a mock-up to whet the appetite and get Tomlin’s creative juices flowing?

Previous Terminator movie directors like Jonathan Mostow, McG and Tim Miller all proclaimed themselves to be Terminator Fans… so nostalgia doesn’t really work on us anymore in that regard. However we’re sure that there are many fans that still get a warm fuzzy feeling off this retro Schwarzenegger / Terminator collectible.

Sadly, due to the distrust garnered by previous productions, and the waffle fed to fans by previous directors and studios, Mattson Tomlin is just going to have to prove it with his Terminator Anime pudding.

Does the image get you more excited for the release of the Terminator Anime series?
