The viz (visual) part of the Mocap-(VIZ) potentially could stand for pre-viz/pre-visual- obviously you can capture a stunt person’s performance on green screen or on set.
We know that Tim Miller is pre-visualising some scenes, which overall could be choreographing sequences/action in the movie or contributing towards visual effects shots later on- after pre-production is over.
Yes, motion capture is what brings Avatar to life and the most recent Planet of the Apes films; maybe Andy Serkis will be playing the next Terminator villain since he’s the Mo-Cap god.
We do know that an Hispanic stuntman is being sought out to possibly play the new villain,- this was an exciting prospect to have a Terminator to do some stunts without needing CG, if the motion capture is just for prep work that is completely fine but if production is going to be heavily reliant on motion capture and heavy CG we are personally not going to be happy.
We still worry about the next Terminator movie but on the positive side it is nice to see tons of prep work going into this movie and hopefully the viz work is prepping for mostly real stunts, that would be very cool if that is the case. Hopes are also high for some imaginative, authentic practical sets by production designer Sonja Klaus.
