Four New Terminator Salvation Images Released

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins - Common as Barnes

Four new Terminator Salvation images have been been exclusively released via ScreenWEEK.it and they give us a closer look at two of John Connor‘s key Resistance members; “a no-nonsense and battle-hardened member of the resistance” Blair Williams played by Moon Bloodgood, and Barnes who is played by actor / rapper Common.

The images don’t give much away, but Blair Williams is definitely giving off some strong female Sarah Connor vibes, which is certainly not out of place in the Terminator franchise – with Claire Danes previously carrying on the strong female character tradition with 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the MachinesKathryn Brewster. Hopefully Blair and Barnes are well rounded characters that are written well and don’t double cross John Connor in any way.
We get the feeling that they can be trusted, Barnes is not only part of the Resistance but also has been described as a close friend to John Connor (Christian Bale), and let’s face it, in the war against the machines John Connor needs all the friends he can get.

Just to be critical… the future war doesn’t look like the dark blue nightmare presented in James Cameron‘s movies, The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, but we’re trying to remain open minded and hopefully the movie respects the original material, rules and world created by Cameron. We do need to keep reminding ourselves of the tagline of the movie ‘The Future Begins‘, and this is obviously the early war as we don’t see any phased plasma weapons or T-800‘s obliterating everything in their paths.
Judging by the pictures; it looks like a shotgun and a pistol is possibly enough to tackle SkyNet‘s earlier Terminator / HK units? On the other hand, this is a reboot and the studios and McG can use it to their advantage to bend the rules if they so wish, but it could also backfire if they do.

We continue to look forward to finding out more about the movie, and hope that this is the future war fans have been waiting to see in all its glory.
