Terminator Salvation Poster

Picture a world devastated by apocalyptic terror, it’s 2018 and our hero John Connor (Christian Bale) is the man destined to lead a band of rebels against SkyNet and the seemingly indestructible army of Terminators.

Things are about to take a turn unpredicted in the previous instalments, enter Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) a man whose past has been lost and the only memories he can recall are of being on Death Row. Our hero must decide if Marcus is a man brought back from the future or saved from the past.

As the egomaniacal SkyNet begins a battle that may destroy any hope of a future, John and Marcus forge steadily onwards in an effort to save mankind from a life lived without freedom.

But there is a terrible secret lurking at the cold heart of the machines…

Terminator Salvation (2009) Official Plot Synopsis:

“The year is 2018. Judgment Day has come and gone, leveling modern civilization. An army of Terminators roams the post-apocalyptic landscape, killing or collecting humans where they hide in the desolate cities and deserts, but small groups of survivors have organized into a Resistance, hiding in underground bunkers and striking when they can against an enemy force that vastly outnumbers them.

Controlling the Terminators is the artificial intelligence network Skynet, which became self-aware 14 years earlier and, in the blink of an eye, turned on its creators, unleashing nuclear annihilation on an unsuspecting world. Only one man saw Judgment Day coming. One man, whose destiny has always been intertwined with the fate of human existence: John Connor (Christian Bale). Now the world is on the brink of the future that Connor has been warned about all his life.

But something totally new has shaken his belief that humanity stands a chance of winning this war: the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger from the past whose last memory is of being on death row before awakening in this strange, new world. Connor must decide whether Marcus can be trusted. But as Skynet adapts new strategies to end the Resistance forever, Connor and Marcus must find common ground to take a stand against the onslaught – to infiltrate Skynet and meet the enemy head-on.”

Byte-Size TheTerminatorFans.com Terminator Salvation (2009) Review:

Lacking character development and heart; Salvation misses the most important elements of a true Terminator movie. Whilst this movie has many possibilities it fails to capitalize on the necessary motivations of the first two movies. There is not enough here to captivate the viewer as the film swiftly moves from scene to scene,- quickly pushing the story onwards without enough back-story or intent. There is no fear.

It’s an okay movie… just not a Terminator movie.

Terminator Salvation (2009) Information: Cast:

Christian Bale: John Connor, Linda Hamilton: The Voice Of Sarah Connor, Roland Kickinger & Arnold Schwarzenegger: T-800, Sam Worthington: Marcus Wright, Anton Yelchin: Kyle Reese, Bryce Dallas Howard: Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood: Blair Williams, Common: Barnes, Jadagrace: Star, Helena Bonham Carter: Serena, Chris Ashworth: Richter, Chris Browning: Morrison, Michael Ironside: General Ashdown, John Trejo: Salvation Soldier, Dylan Kenin: Turnball, Alan D Purwin: Helicopter Pilot, Michael Papajon: Carnahan T-600 (Suit Performer) – Brian Steele

T-600 First Appearance:

This movie introduced us to the T-600 Terminator mentioned by Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) in the first Terminator movie – The Terminator (1984). Overall we feel the overall representation of the T-600 was flawed to say the least. The rubber masks were supposed to be rubber skin and the ridiculous size of the Terminator Unit would not be passible for human (except at a distance). James Cameron intended for these Terminators to be early Infiltration Units, not giants.

Also with the movie being Rated PG-13 This particular scene saw CGI removing the mask (most likely deemed too creepy for kids) and replacing it with an action figure smiley faced version of the machine.
