“The year is 2018. Judgment Day has come and gone, leveling modern civilization. Byte-Size TheTerminatorFans.com Terminator Salvation (2009) Review:
Lacking character development and heart; Salvation misses the most important elements of a true Terminator movie. Whilst this movie has many possibilities it fails to capitalize on the necessary motivations of the first two movies. There is not enough here to captivate the viewer as the film swiftly moves from scene to scene,- quickly pushing the story onwards without enough back-story or intent. There is no fear.
It’s an okay movie… just not a Terminator movie.

T-600 First Appearance:
This movie introduced us to the T-600 Terminator mentioned by Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) in the first Terminator movie – The Terminator (1984). Overall we feel the overall representation of the T-600 was flawed to say the least. The rubber masks were supposed to be rubber skin and the ridiculous size of the Terminator Unit would not be passible for human (except at a distance). James Cameron intended for these Terminators to be early Infiltration Units, not giants.
Also with the movie being Rated PG-13 This particular scene saw CGI removing the mask (most likely deemed too creepy for kids) and replacing it with an action figure smiley faced version of the machine.
TERMINATOR SALVATION TRIVIA:
- Six actors have played John Connor: In Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) the adult John Connor was played by Michael Edwards, the teenage John Connor was played by Edward Furlong and the infant John Connor (Sarah’s dream sequence) was played by Dalton Abbot. Nick Stahl played the fourth John Connor in Terminator 3: Rise of The Machines (2003). Thomas Dekker is the actor currently playing John Connor in the television series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008) and Christian Bale as John in the new trilogy.
- This is the first Terminator film not to star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Earl Boen is also absent for the first time unless McG has a surprise cameo.
- McG asked the cast to read: “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”- the base idea of Blade Runner.
- Claire Danes turned down the chance to reprise her role as Kate Brewster, Charlotte Gainsbourg was set to take up the role until a scheduling conflict with another film arose, meaning she was replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard.
- Josh Brolin was offered the role of the Terminator but declined the opportunity.
- Director McG instructed the cast to read the novel: “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men) as he wanted them to absorb the bleak world landscaped in the story.
