Terminator Fans are getting more and more agitated regarding the release of a trailer to Terminator: Dark Fate but sadly, for a long time now, Terminator Fans keep being given new dates for a trailer by different sources and then get disappointed each time those dates pass without a trailer.
Right now there has to be at least 10 dates we’ve seen flying around; beginning all the way back before Superbowl and going steady until now (it’s little wonder fans are getting annoyed).
TheTerminatorFans.com have done our best not to participate in this hype because we don’t want to throw dates at you in the hopes that one will stick. It would be pretty easy to be right if we reported every day that the trailer is coming tomorrow – eventually we would be right but you’d think we were dipshits as we jumped around in glee telling you we were right after being wrong so many times.
May 12th (Terminator Day) is NOT A RUMOR…
We have only had an opinion on two dates for a trailer release for Terminator: Dark Fate – the first was a suggestion by one of our Youtube subscribers, Jackson Bliss, who made the suggestion that he would love Terminator Day (May 12th) to be the date the trailer drops.
May 12th is of course the date that The Terminator and Kyle Reese arrived in 1984 to duke it out and fulfil their missions. A cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) sent to terminate the mother of the future leader of the human resistance, and a human resistance fighter (Micheal Biehn) sworn to protect her [Sarah Connor/Linda Hamilton] and ensure that she and her unborn son survive.
We were enthusiastic of Jackson Bliss’ opinion as we wholeheartedly agreed that it would be a fantastic day to drop a trailer; it would be an opportunity that would be too good to miss (from a marketing point of view). We made a video crediting Jackson for his thoughts and opinion but like most things on the internet; an opinion piece/speculation or prediction, becomes a rumor when it is NOT. Credit where it’s due please, eh?
While May 12th is a great day to get this trailer out; there is skepticism over the day (a Sunday) being meaty enough from the studio perspective of reaching the biggest audience. Sadly, if you are going to make a day of something annually, then eventually it will cycle around to a calendar day that isn’t good enough to market with. While we understand that viewpoint – we aren’t in the business of public relations or movie marketing, so we can only give our two cents as Terminator Fans.
Tomorrow (12th May) is also Mother’s day (U.S) and, well, Sarah Connor is one of the baddest mothers known to the human race, so this doubles a marketing opportunity which shouldn’t really be missed but if the trailer isn’t ready, then…it shouldn’t be rushed.
John Wick 3 – May 17th is Trailer Day? Also NOT A RUMOR
One of the other many supposed Dark Fate trailer dates thrown at Terminator Fans was hype surrounding Avengers: Endgame. Many people were encouraging of the idea and wished for a trailer to drop with Endgame but we didn’t want a T:DF Avengers: Endgame trailer – because it could have signified that fans had not been listened to, and that, Dark Fate being attached to one of the biggest summer tentpoles could suggest a PG-13 production.
In the very same video (at 0.59) we offered the opinion that we thought John Wick 3 would be a much more suitable project for a Terminator: Dark Fate trailer release, due to its more mature nature and its R Rating.
So, when does John Wick 3 debut? May 17th.
While we can’t say that the 12th OR the 17th are the date that Terminator: Dark Fate’s trailer will release; we won’t be throwing a million dates at you for web traffic, or raise your expectations high just to leave you hanging.
We, just like you, are waiting with baited breath for the first real glimpses of the true sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day with hope and trepidation.
