The upcoming free ‘Aftermath’ DLC for Mortal Kombat 11 features the introduction of RoboCop as a playable character (voiced by original actor Peter Weller); which brings with it some gaming nostalgia for RoboCop and Terminator Fans.
The original clash of the titans was first seen on the pages of the Dark Horse Comics release ‘RoboCop Vs The Terminator‘ in 1992 followed by a game adaptation in 1993. Now in 2020, you can relive the good ole’ days and pit The Terminator against RoboCop once again…. well, kinda.
Gameplay Preview:
To promote Terminator: Dark Fate ‘Carl’ the T-800 was introduced as a playable character, which was initially available in the Kombat Pack DLC alongside other characters, and then later available as a singular character purchase.
Unlike Peter Weller, who returned to voice his character; Arnold Schwarzenegger sadly didn’t and the voice actor Arnold chose himself leaves a lot to be desired, and yes, we understand this tie-in was done to promote Terminator: Dark Fate by having ‘Carl’ in the game but we can’t help but feel it would have just been better and more authentic to have had the 1984 Terminator character, or the Endoskeleton character and have the character say nothing at all if Arnold was not going to voice it.
The irony is that Arnold has gone on to voice the character of ‘Dutch’ in Predator: Hunting Grounds; which may leave some fans out in the cold as they listen to a voice actor whilst playing Mortal Kombat 11 – shattering any illusion of the Mortal Kombat experience of RoboCop Vs The Terminator.
The ‘Aftermath’ begins on May 26th, 2020.
