We were very happy to Exclusively announce that Terminator 2 3D would be coming to Canada ‘James Cameron’s home turf’ courtesy of distributor Mongrel Media; but sadly the theatrical release in Canada with Mongrel has been cancelled. We held off on this report for some time out of respect for parties involved, but as you know our loyalty is always to the fans.
A source close to Terminator 2 3D told www.TheTerminatorFans.com that a new distributor is being looked at to handle the Canadian release.
It will either happen or it won’t.
It is unknown what specific reason has caused this cancellation, whether it is a lack of demand for 3D, a legal complication/issue preventing the release etc. but it is possible at this late stage that Terminator 2 3D will not have a theatrical screening/run in Canada;- unless a new Distributor can be locked in.
The UK is also set to have a one day only release of the movie and some other countries are not having a release altogether. We can’t really expect Terminator 2 3D to show everywhere but we also need to remember that we are going to get a spectacular new home release of the remaster and nothing is stopping fans from importing early too.
The United States is going to have a longer Theatrical release/run and we anticipate this is the reason 4K 3D Blu-Ray’s are not up for grabs just yet in the US but they are available in the UK for example seeing as the theatrical run there is limited.
Update 1 08/11/17: The problem with the Canada release is contractual/legal matter.
Update 2 09/11/17: Canadian fans please check the Cineplex website daily for a possible change in this situation eg. Ticket sales possibly becoming available.
