Universal Studios Florida Terminator 2 3-D: Battle Across Time Ride TERMINATED

T2 3D Battle Across Time

Terminator 2 3D: Battle across Time will sadly close at Universal Studios Florida on October 8th 2017 and will be replaced with a new ride…

This will make Universal Studios Japan the final theme park location to show the ride (unless that is planned for the scrap heap too at some point).

What is the replacement ride?

Universal states:

Terminator 2: 3-D at Universal Studios Florida will run its last shows on Sunday, October 8 to make way for an all-new live action experience based on a high-energy Universal franchise. It will open in 2019. This is one of many exciting new experiences coming to Universal Orlando Resort as we continue our epic growth. Stay tuned – more details will be released soon.

With the last few theatrical outings of Terminator not doing very well it has obviously contributed to the decision, also the ride is now old and necessary steps to upgrade the ride or revitalize/renew it have not taken place.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines did not have a ride/attraction, Terminator Salvation had a wooden coaster and well… Terminator Genisys had no ride either. Without a movie that can capture a wide audiences hearts- a new Terminator ride and experience will not happen and Battle Across Time should have been swapped out at some point for a new Terminator ride but without James Cameron and great Terminator movies, it sadly did not happen. Also it is cited other legal issues have prevented new rides from happening but when things are successful money can make those legal issues go away (to some degree anyway).

Maybe Terminator 6 can bring back the franchise to theme parks?
