Former The Walking Dead actor Steven Yeun, who was nominated for best actor this year at the Oscars for his role in the movie Minari, took some time to share a memory about experiencing Terminator 2: Judgment Day at a theater in Taylor, Michigan.
The actor recounted his experience of watching the R Rated movie with his mother at the age of seven.
“When I was 7, living in Taylor, Michigan; my mother took me to watch Terminator 2 at the theaters, um, I’m pretty sure she didn’t know what the movie was about, and to her and my surprise we got to see some stuff.

We got to see a T-1000 get his head blown off and then form back together, and Arnold cut his arm skin to reveal a robot hand, and I just remember glancing at my mom a few times trying to see if this was ok for me to watch and my mom playing it cool as if she meant to bring me to this movie, um, but maybe that’s just my memory.”
Steven Yeun was very lucky, as outside of the United States many kids didn’t get to see T2 at theaters. In the UK the movie had an age rating of 15, and if you weren’t 15 or over you simply had no chance of seeing the movie… unless you found some way to sneak in, or you had connections. Many children did however get access to the Terminator movies on VHS.
