The SkyNet Pyramid is BACK in China’s Terminator 2 3D MMORPG Game

The SkyNet pyramid is the eventual home of SkyNet itself but we only briefly encountered it in James Cameron’s 1996 theme park attraction Terminator 2 3-D: Battle Across Time!

Now the pyramid is back in the Chinese MMORPG game for Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D albeit with a total redesign…

We don’t mind the redesign, as it is a game after all- and of course there can be limitations in rights usage across the Terminator franchise which can be complicated to overcome with various owners and conflicts franchise-wide in terms of copyrighted designs etc.

We even included the wish to see the SkyNet Pyamid in a theatrical outing when we did a manifesto for Terminator 5 which later of course became Terminator Genisys. In the manifesto we detailed things we wanted to see in the 5th outing, many things we outlined and wanted to see have now obviously changed as the franchise has changed and the direction has changed but we would definitely still like to see the Pyramid again in any possible future war sequences in Terminator 6 or Terminator 7/other future installments.

TheTerminatorFans.com also tried to officially bring back the SkyNet pyramid at 2 points in time (separate from theatrical wishes to studios) with the original design and a redesign but this will remain a story for another time… You can see a glimpse of one of those projects in bottom right easter egg in this picture (original design wire-frame 3D model).

The SkyNet Pyramid itself received heavy comparison to Blade Runner’s Tyrell Corp. Building…

The comparison becomes even more noticeable if we change everything to blue!

The design of the SkyNet Pyramid (below) obviously didn’t have the Tyrell Corp’s slanted exterior skyscrapers and had a totally different exterior design imprint staying true to that of motherboard design/chipboard/circuits, it would obviously make sense for SkyNet to base its structure on one of the magnificent seven wonders of the world. Another inclusion of turrets at each point of the pyramid also allows SkyNet to blast away any oncoming threat The Resistance also may have planned by land or air.

One major noticeable change (other than a redesign) is a new location for the SkyNet Pyramid… ? With a roadway which resembles the Great Wall of China, perhaps a cultural reference for China, there could be more than one Pyramid in the game perhaps? The one in T2 3-D looked to be slap bang in the middle of LA and was sturdy on the ground (not raised off the ground like the below image).

Of course TheTerminatorFans.com like our future war dark and blue… so… a quick edit…

It has also been stated that the T2 3D MMORPG game may never see a release outside of Asia; which we have again reported on previously as being a shame even if it bends Terminator rules, even though we don’t think movies should bend rules,- we don’t really see any harm in bending rules in the collectibles or gaming markets provided the majority of collectibles and games do play by the fundamental rules Terminator must adhere to as a property for fulfillment of prosperity and overall franchise wide success.

There are other options of course, they could re-work the game to make it more coherent by replacing Anime girls in leather catsuits with perhaps familiar characters to Terminator fans, eg. Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor, Michael Biehn’s Kyle Reese, it might not be great to show a child Edward Furlong shooting guns but possibly an older John Connor or even a friendly programmed Robert Patrick T-1000 as a playable character might work. Obviously we wouldn’t expect it to be a totally coherent experience but we think it would be a fun one and we would urge the game’s release worldwide.

Overall it is nice to see the return of the Pyramid and we would love to see this gaming app appear on console market places and phones!
