April 9th – Kickstarter Day!

River Horse Games have teamed up with Lynnvander studios to bring this game to Kickstarter under the official Terminator Genisys license in conjuncton with Skydance Productions.
River Horse are known for creating (thus far) Terminator Genisys: The Miniatures Game and a whole host of unpainted miniature figurines- we previously reviewed their miniatures and they were extremely detailed and of great quality.
Team Lynnvander will be responsible for bringing the gaming structure and River Horse’s miniature components together to construct a unique board game/player experience under the Genisys umbrella.

As stated, the game will be more than just a direct port of the movie and aims to have story elements to make a different experience set in the 2029/Future War era of the Terminator Genisys timeline. Schwarzenegger’s Guardian wearing Genisys’ Resistance wardrobe points towards some of those potential story elements.

Team Lynnvander worked on the hugely successful The Terminator: The Official Board Game Kickstarter with Space Goat Productions but it appears Team Lynnvander later dropped out of the game due to unforseen problems/circumstances that will be hopefully addressed soon to fans and backers waiting for their rewards and more updates.

While The Terminator: The Official Board Game was a success a Terminator 2: Judgment Day Board Game Kickstarter titled T2029 by Rule & Make failed to fund and was postponed indefinitely; can a Terminator Genisys board game succeed where a Terminator 2: Board Game failed? Well, the answer potentially is… yes, our understanding is that this game doesn’t necessarily need the backing of the Terminator Fan community but success could come from the board game community in the end,- so even though the Genisys brand remains largely unpopular it doesn’t terminate full chances of success for River Horse and Lynnvander.
