Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Director Charles Beeson Dies

Charles Beeson began his career directing episodes of the BBC soap opera Eastenders, after directing nineteen episodes of the long-running drama, he continued directing many well known prime time shows for British television such as Minder, Inspector Morse and Band of Gold before transitioning over to US TV and directing shows like Smallville, Supernatural, The Mentalist and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (TSCC).

Actor, Jim Beaver who worked with Beeson on Supernatural, took to social media to share news of his friend’s passing and also confirmed he had died from a heart attack. Deadline contacted Beeson’s agent who confirmed that he had indeed died.

Charles Beeson directed four episodes of TSCC from 2008 to 2009; Adam Raised a Cain (2009), Alpine Fields (2008), Allison from Palmdale (2008) and The Demon Hand (2008). There are at least a couple of episodes here that are considered some of the best TSCC had to offer by fans.

Charles Beeson’s family made the following statement:

“We have lost an inexpressibly special man but have been so comforted to know that so many people knew and loved him just as we did. The messages we have received from Charles’ friends, collaborators and colleagues in the industry do him and us the greatest honour. He deeply and wholeheartedly loved his job, and that continues to bring us great gladness.

He always went to work with a joke to share, a kind word to offer and full of creative energy and joy. To us he was living testament that, in an industry that sometimes prefers the loudest or the most competitive, you can be kind and gentle and humble in your work, and respect will always follow. We are going to miss him an unimaginable amount but we want to thank those who carry – in whatever way – a memory of him and we are going to do our best to carry on in his most special spirit.”

Beeson family statement

Rest in peace Charles Beeson, and our sincerest condolences to Charles’ friends and family at this difficult time.
