Terminator Genisys The Miniatures Game Unboxing

Due to the complex nature of this product we can’t delve straight into a review without playing the game itself. Instead we want to delve into ‘The War Against The Machines’ boxset contents and share images with you ahead of the product’s upcoming release.

The packaging is of a good design and in keeping with the Terminator brand…

The back of the box features Arnold Schwarzenegger as The ‘Guardian’ T-800 Unit overlooking the battlefield of the future war where miniature Endoskeleton’s and Resistance fighters battle it out! The contents are listed and we can get an idea of the overall scope of this tactical table top game.

On opening the box you will be presented with a very professional A4 sized booklet, detailing the game’s expansive set of rules; tips on painting the miniatures and creating environments and backdrops for your battles,- if you’re a fan that likes to custom mod and have an artistic creative streak this product is for you! Carboard sheets with tokens and addditional game items are present that, again, add depth to gameplay.

The game has complex rules, but there are simpler ‘quick start rules’ if you just want to get playing without learning complexities… The A4 booklet also contains concept art and images previously unseen from the movie and teases certain aspects. Various quotes and movie dialogue are in the booklet, also confirming one of our Exclusives about Arnold delivering the exact line of “You won’t be needing any clothes” before the Arnold Vs Arnold fight ensues.

The gaming mat (battlefield) folds out like a poster and simply needs placing on a solid surface or clean floor. The attention to detail is cool; including plenty of skulls! It is also double-sided, the other side being more interior based with corridors etc. which will obviously alter gameplay style and tactics for players.

If you don’t want to paint the models you don’t have to, they can be assembled without glue and the machines come already in a silver plastic and The Resistance come in a green plastic, you can indeed skip the painting and jump right into playing. So no need to worry about not being able to differentiate which side is which.

The product is actually fun to open and explore; if you have the time to give to the product it will surely reward many fans.

Note the ‘Fate die’… ?

-and what could this small bubble wrapped thing below be?

Now, the irony is bubble wrap will feature in Terminator Genisys on a much larger scale (or a similar material) remember you read that here first!

It’s Jaiyle Reese! We have freed him from his bubble wrap prison! The likeness is incredible for such a small scale and has to be seen in person to be believed! Metal models will come with additional power play moves and abilities; Arnold’s ‘The Guardian’ will also be released as a metal model at a later date.

A closer look at the Endoskeletons… crawlers (lost their legs in battle) and the plasma rifle (new design) carrying infantry units.

… and The Resistance… even including a female fighter.

Overall it was an enjoyable experience unboxing this collectible.

Here is a first effort at painting one of the Endoskeletons…

The game will ship early June.
