As part of the Terminator Genisys Trailer Release and hype build-up. Skydance Productions have released the first official poster for Terminator Genisys.
Is that sunlight in the distance or the beginnings of a nuclear blast wave?
First of all; the photo is pretty but is this what Terminator Fans want to see- or is it aimed at Game of Thrones fans? When casting for Terminator Genisys the Comic Con Geeks were very much in mind, that is why all the cast were already part of big franchises eg. Emilia – Game of Thrones, Jai – Divergant Series, Matt – Doctor Who, Jason – Planet of the Apes/Annapurna connections etc
The heavily photoshopped image (look at the translucency around the T-800 skull neck. Even Emilia is photoshopped to some degree, and why on earth would you place the logo for the movie on level with Miss Clarke’s backside? (Probably so each share on all the social network just shows her behind- cynical marketing move?).
I’m sure many people out there will love the poster because it does prominently feature her backside but I would have found Arnold Schwarzenegger sulking in a cornfield on fire with dead bodies surrounding him… in the dark… more exciting.
Actually, was Emilia holding a bowling ball in the original photo? #GreenScreenBowlingBall
A T-800 skull is heavy, there is no possible way she can hold that head with the positioning of the fingers. This idea was done before but much more poorly in a Terminator Salvation poster but it was supposed to be Marcus Wright’s (Sam Worthington) arm holding the head (he was half Terminator, so he was stronger than a human). Also the way Marcus held the skull was more realistic in design even if the image was a PG-13 shit-fest of CGI.
Even the posters are homages?
She is obviously carrying a Terminator’s skull containing a CPU (Central Processing Unit) is this the evil young T-800’s skull or her Pops’ skull? Maybe diving into a helicopter lopped his head off and she’s taking him home to insert his cpu into a fresh Endoskeleton. It wouldn’t surprise me if Arnold Schwarzenegger has been using the years to build backup Endoskeletons- should he become damaged… a time machine to change history and maybe he built himself a Bio-Flesh Re-generator…. after all; he can’t be turning up to school to pick up his surrogate daughter with half his face torn off…
The other option of course is that this is a red-herring just like the Marcus Wright Salvation poster (as Marcus didn’t actually carry a skull around a decimated LA in the movie).
Anything is possible with Terminator Genisys.
Just one thing… we all know that we will get an Arnold poster in the lead up to the movie, but unlike Emilia Clarke- Linda Hamilton never had her own poster. Just an observation. : /
Maybe the in-joke is that Arnold is in the poster… or at least his cgi cranium is…
