Terminator: Genisys Now in Post-Production

Terminator Genisys Set

On the 6th of August at at 4:47am principal photography on Terminator: Genisys was completed. It feels really weird to be speaking about a movie which now actually has a title.

Obviously if you missed the reveal of the project/filming wrap which was announced by Schwarzenegger you can get the full lowdown here.

So the movie has been filmed but the project has some heavy work left to do before it is a finished product; mastering, editing, sound, VFX, a soundtrack, merchandizing deals, promotional materials, viral internet marketing, physical street level marketing (sometimes a possibility) and lot’s of other little details you wouldn’t imagine going into the film making process.

We can probably expect a teaser trailer soon. It is overdue and due to the fact it is so late on we might get some real footage in the teaser and not just a CGI logo teaser like Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines did. Terminator Salvation’s Teaser got people pumped although simple and showing little footage. The teaser trailer is obviously going to be approached by the studios very carefully in how it will be executed/presented. We look forward to finally seeing a representation of what this project’s potential might be.

Terminator: Genisys as a title has been the brunt of many jokes. People are now drawing connection to the fact that the name Genisys and spelling appears in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Did the Apes franchise make the word resonant/relevant again to Paramount? After all it was reported that initially they didn’t like the name ‘Genesis’.

The problem is the logo may appear as Genisys in Rise of Apes but the DNA strand in the logo isn’t an ‘i’. It’s just a DNA strand.

Gen-Sys Laboratories was a biotech firm owned by Polytechnic Solutions and located in the San Francisco Bay area in Rise of the Apes… they were the lab responsible for making the monkeys extra smart in the research to cure Alzheimer’s Disease.

Terminator Fans will of course notice that the font type used for this logo is actually the Terminator Font, the second connection we can obviously make is the location of Apes Gen Sys Lab is also a location that will feature Genisys in the new movie. Unless they are going for a franchise crossover we can just put this down to nerdism and fan boy homage.

Do you want more connections to Terminator? Well the studio responsible for Rise of the Apes was 20th Century Fox. The studios is the current home of James Cameron regarding his movie projects and if that wasn’t a good enough connection the Editor’s on Rise of the Apes were Conrad Buff ( Editor on T2 & Salvation) and  Mark Goldblatt ( Editor on T1, T2 and Salvation).

Jason Clarke also appears in the latest Apes installment (Dawn). He will also play John Connor in Terminator: Genisys.

In Terminator Genisys we obviously will make the assumption that ‘Genisys’ is a project under development by ‘Cyberdyne Systems’ and the movies have no other connection aside from Ape Vs Man and Man Vs Machine!

Maybe if you want to avoid the apocalypse of any form, avoid living in San Francisco and avoid that bridge because according to Terminator Salvation SkyNet builds it’s headquarters (SkyNet Central) right next to it! Whatever happened to the SkyNet Pyramid… ?
