Terminator: Dark Fate Could Win An Oscar

Terminator-Dark-Fate-To-Win-An-Oscar

Terminator: Dark Fate is in the running to win an Academy Award for visual effects – other contenders are Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’ Ang Lee’s ‘Gemini Man’ (which is also a Paramount Pictures and Skydance media project), and Jon Favreau’s ‘The Lion King’ remake.

The latest installment in the Terminator franchise seemed to split audiences and critics alike, with its controversial storyline (which included that notorious scene) its misplaced humor and… the questionable / excessive use of CGI.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ visual effects branch executive committee, selected a list of movies it deems eligible for further awards consideration.

Sometime later this month the Academy will choose ten films for nominations voting.

The twenty films being considered are:

Ad Astra
The Aeronauts
Aladdin
Alita: Battle Angel
Avengers: Endgame
Captain Marvel
Cats
Dumbo
Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw
Ford v. Ferrari
Gemini Man
The Irishman
Jumanji: The Next Level
The Lion King
Men in Black: International
Midway
1917
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Terminator: Dark Fate
