The writers of Terminator 6 are comprised of a writers room consisting of four writers; Josh Friedman, David S. Goyer, Charles Eglee and Justin Rhodes .
The writers are apparently using a base story concept by James Cameron.
Josh Friedman needs no introduction- as he worked on TSCC (The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and is well known to most Terminator Fans. He has also worked on the Screenplay for Avatar 2.
David S. Goyer is well known for Batman titles eg. Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight Trilogy, as well as the Blade Trilogy.
Charles Eglee did the screenplay for Piranha 2: The Spawning (Cameron’s first directing gig before doing The Terminator) as well as writing for Cameron’s produced Dark Angel TV Series. He has worked on a few crime dramas like Murder One, The Shield and NYPD Blue. He has also written on the Gale Anne Hurd produced; The Walking Dead and wrote for Dexter.
Justin Rhodes is apparently a regular Goyer collaborator who has worked on the screenplay for the upcoming Green Lantern Corps.
There is a strong mixture of writers here, working in crime/thrillers/horror and most notably super hero movies. All we can hope for is that Terminator 6 ditches the super hero ideals,- because by the time Terminator 6 hits cinemas that trend will either be dead or running its course trend-wise… trends come and go, they come back again, then leave again and that is just the way it is; no matter how long an industry wants them to keep bringing the major bucks.
R Rated Horror is the next trend, so if we could offer any advice on Terminator 6 it would be; to go back to a serious tone of Horror Thriller Science-Fiction that takes itself seriously… this writers room definitely doesn’t want to be remembered for potentially fucking up the character of Sarah Connor, nor contribute to damaging the careers of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton.
Also to make the older cast members background set decorations (Genisys) or to “swan song” beloved characters just to speed up the torch passing would be a huge mistake ie. Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Don’t kill Sarah Connor in Terminator 6, that would be predictable, stupid, annoying and a waste of a character!
Making Arnold and Linda have barely any presence is also another way to annoy the fans who are turning out to WATCH THEM on the big screen.
Hopefully they also ditch the idea of over-complicating time travel and go back to basics (no trying to be smart or Back to the Future style- the majority don’t want it), the fans don’t need more convoluted plots that confuse people or leave people rolling their eyes and calling the movie dumb and over thought.
The words “fold” and “time” were also used in the same sentence, hopefully there isn’t some stupid futuristic device which shifts/bends time planes or something like that to justify some new OTT Visual Effects hell hole. “Saruh Cawnur I’m a CSM-101 time bending machine prototype, I can fold time and your laundry”. Jim could just also mean the activating of a story by initial time travel (like the first two movies) that would be fine and the right way to go.
Hopefully this writers room have a solid story and have had plenty of input from Cameron on ideas and it won’t turn out to be a bunch of messy scrambled ideas each screaming for the audiences attention with nothing solid to hold them together…
Worryingly a trilogy has also been thought out before even doing the first film, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genisys all started with that thought process and ethic and look how that turned out. Why can’t we focus on one movie at a time? Why are we mapping/dragging a story out over 3 movies? This is just watering the material down and usually ends up with people not even wanting to see the continuation of it.
Understandably a lot of trust has been diminished with poor sequels and fans just want, and deserve, a great movie… they are owed that much for sticking with this franchise through thick and thin.

The news of Schwarzenegger and Hamilton’s return will excite many and real fans are always willing to go again to the cinema in the hope of a great film/movie going experience. We hope Hollywood breaks the cycle this time and makes a real Terminator movie because there hasn’t been one for decades…

According to Collider.com who attended the recent Terminator Reboot Event and screening of Terminator 2 3D; James Cameron has been dropping into the writers room ONCE a week and also Skyping with the writers room too.
