‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Home Release Postponed by Lionsgate

The dates keep shifting but now Lionsgate have confirmed an indefinite delay for the 4K UHD Home Release of Terminator 2: Judgment Day and this should also include the Endo Arm Collector’s Edition release as it contains the release.

Hi-Def Digest Reports:

Looks like Arnold won’t be back this month after all.

Lionsgate has confirmed another delay for the upcoming 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The disc was originally slated for a street date of October 3 before being pushed back to October 31, and now the title has been postponed again with no new release date currently set. Lionsgate gave no specific reason for the delay but did state that the disc “will still be released at some point in the near future.”

This will of course annoy Terminator Fans, but we should be patient, rushing things is never good and remember how long fans had to wait for the VHS of the original Terminator 2: Judgment Day? This is nothing compared to waiting times in the glory days of cinema!

The Endo Arm is set to have a James Cameron signature sticker… it might not be his real signature unless they delayed the entire release to lock him in a room to sign stickers for the next couple of weeks.

Also another likely possible reason for the delay? This could be a tactical decision to delay the release to allow theaters to show the 2D 4K Restoration presentation for those fans that might not have turned out for a 3D showing…

North Park Theatre in New York made the smart decision to screen Terminator 2: Judgment Day’s 4K Restoration in 2D (for one week only)! This could be a sign of possible potential for other cinemas to do the same in different parts of the world.

ONE WEEK ONLY!

NEVER BEFORE SEEN IN 2D!

Join us for a newly restored 4K release of James Cameron’s TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, one of the greatest sci-fi action films of ALL TIME!

“A pop epiphany, marking that commercially creative point where the power of Hollywood meets the purity of myth.” – Globe and Mail

Cool posters at the stand.

This restoration project was initiated last year by Lightstorm (lei), James Cameron’s production company, DMG Entertainment and Studiocanal.

The original 35mm negative was scanned and then restored in 4k at deluxe la, under the supervision of Geoff Burdick, Lightstorm. The film was then calibrated in 4k by skip, James Cameron’s colorist, at Technicolor Hollywood, with a selection of the best 35mm prints from the film’s first release.

This is a good chance for theater owners to show/host screenings of Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 4K and bring in fans who may have missed local screenings of Terminator 2 3D and fans who might jump at the chance to see the movie in the 2D format again on the big screen.

North Park Theater showed Terminator 2: Judgment Days’ 4K Restoration 2D presentation for a full week from the 23rd of September to September the 28th.
