Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D – Official US 4K Trailer Review

Terminator 2 3D 4K Trailer

People were impressed by the HD 1080p 2D Trailer for Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D but now you can experience it in full 4K 2D glory courtesy of Distrib Films US. This is a great glimpse at what 2D lovers and those of you that have not made the full leap into 3D TV/Monitors will be experiencing for the home release of T2-3D!

We can see the sheer improvement in quality that the movie will offer fans;- with the sharp high resolution display the remaster offers, the quality difference is highly notable and the sound also has evolved to another level too.

The 4K  makes it feel as if the original presentation of T2 was clogged with dirt and Vaseline and it has be magically rubbed away by Mr. Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment, TheTerminatorFans.com love a bit of grit and we really love movies recorded on ‘film’, Terminator 2: Judgment Day was never recorded digitally and this enhancement of the original film reel is simply stunning. We feel that movies recorded on film have more soul and depth and more reality, we don’t like our films to look too digitally perfect or too crystal clear, T2 has that right balance with old tech meeting the new, T2 in visual look is a timeless movie and always has been, T2-3D looks as if it could have been filmed yesterday after the degraining process but we feel that because it was filmed with 90s technology that it still has the golden era of cinema vibe entrenched in its very being.

T-800 Stuntman Peter Kent can be seen more clearly!

From watching the trailer it is obvious that the remaster has not damaged T2 (like some remasters have failed to impress fans of various other franchises) but it has enhanced it and we think many fans will be very happy to watch this in theaters and to re-purchase this movie (on Blu-Ray), even if they have perhaps bought the many various editions of over the years. It reinforces one of our repetitive points about getting a Terminator movie right, if you pour blood, sweat and tears into making a true Terminator movie the fans will stay loyal for decades or perhaps even their full lifetime but Hollywood really needs to understand that fans expect Terminator movies to evolve and out-do their predecessors, it’s no good saying there is no way to top T1 or T2 or it’ll never be as good, if you don’t even try to do that then there is no point in even trying. Terminator 2 perfectly proves that point. We are now time-travelling back to a time when Terminator peaked in the world of cinema and in doing so comes a self-repair of a franchise which desperately needed it.

The color tones in the movie look great and any concerns fans had about the possible abandonment of Cameron’s signature blue color tone look surely now to be laid to rest. It is here to stay (thank you Adam Greenberg and Mr. Cameron).

There is no doubt that Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D is going to make fans (and the wider audience) hungry for more Terminator again and the good news is James Cameron is involved again even if it is just in a producer capacity.

Some major websites out there have encouraged people not to go watch Terminator 2: 3D citing it as a “cash-in” 3D gimmick, we don’t feel that way about this release at all, we see it as resetting a theatrical clock back to when things were at the height of greatness and it could mean great things for the franchise as a whole, especially if we eventually get a true canon sequel to this movie.

Remember also, that if this is a success we could get a back-catalog of Jim Cameron/Gale Anne Hurd movies getting the same treatment eg. The Terminator, Aliens and The Abyss… we say BRING IT ON.
