It has been in question by fans if Arnold Schwarzenegger will be part of the beginning filming shoot of the new Terminator due to only having had heart surgery recently. It was perhaps thought that the schedule might be altered to give Schwarzenegger a later filming start date than his co-stars for Terminator (2019) but a new report suggests that he will be involved in the early shoots beginning at the end of this month or June start at the latest. Arnold Schwarzenegger had previously promised to return to Almería in regard to filming a sequel to his Conan movies and he looks to be keeping his word with Terminator (2019).
We do find it likely however that the studios may have re-calibrated filming and taken into account Schwarzenegger’s condition for filming in the sense of not to push him too much physically on the early shoot.
Fans know what Arnold is like and he is a man of pride and loves to be physically active and involved when making movies and even on the set of Terminator Genisys sometimes Arnold would have Alan Taylor suggesting they wrap early for the day (with some kind of sensitive angle possibly aimed at Arnold’s age) but Arnold wanted to keep going and shooting when people possibly half his age would have been happy to run away from the set like little school kids happy to be let out early for the day.

Isleta Del Moro (Almería)
We have been covering a solid number of Spanish reports on the filming in Almería; and SolTimes had some hefty info about strict security taking place at the Isleta Del Moro (Almería) which looks to replicate Guatemala in the movie due to an initial casting call reported by Diario de Almería that was looking for fisherman extras with Guatemalan descent/ethnicity.

One of the spaces chosen for the American superproduction is located in the Isleta del Moro, within the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Níjar, where for days we have been working on the elaboration of scenarios and preparing a film set that includes a good part of this small village that enjoys great tourist attraction.
Specifically, the producer has an authorization from the management of the Natural Park for the occupation of the beach from May 15 to June 8, so that the period of validity coincides with the forecast of the start of shooting in Spain. In addition to the beach, sources of the Andalusian Government have indicated that the permits have also been given to occupy an urban area.
This new report however may have some information mixed up as the location we have pieced together as being Guatemala is being referred to as a US coastal town, when other reports have suggested the urban environment permitted by officials in Madrid will go to replicate the U.S./Mexican Border and a U.S. Highway. We just don’t feel the beautiful village of Isleta Del Moro represents anything urban or United States in look or tone.
While there is a great secrecy about the process of shooting, the work that is done on the beach would be aimed at recreating an American coastal town. Being a space of special protection, the license granted for the film directed by Tim Miller has certain conditions that prohibit the use of helicopters and drones, or the construction of huts or water tanks in natural soil, so that in all At this point, the public use of the space over the authorized activity must prevail.
However in earlier reports another southeast coastal location north of Almería was mentioned and that is the city of Murcia which is indeed more urban and could be dressed to look more like the United States, opposed to the fishing village set decor of huts and boats that are being set up for Almería.

Here is some more dot connecting which mentions Madrid being used a headquarters as it has also previously been reported that Asian producers/investors will be invited to Spain to strengthen a relationship with the country to Hollywood productions including Terminator (2019). Terminator (2019) of course being co-funded by China Internet super-giant Tencent who also bought shares in Skydance.

From the Provincial Delegation of Almeria and the Filming Almería have celebrated that the province has been chosen to receive part of this filming that will also be developed in other state infrastructures, with what the team will have Madrid as work headquarters.
On what looks to be official confirmation of Schwarzenegger’s return to filming in Almería…
“We value that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Terminator return to Almeria,” the provincial deputy of Culture, Antonio Jesús Rodríguez, told Europa Press, who assured that the actor of Austrian origin “rediscovered the province” when he went to uncover his star in the Almerian Walk of Fame, at which time they also began the procedures to “return to film in Almeria”. “The promise he made to the people of Almeria now is a reality,” he added.
Regarding the occupancy of the dates of May 15 to June 8, SolTimes said the movie would film for a couple of days in Almería’s Isleta Del Moro (Beginning May 29th). We can see by the report that necessary preparation is required including set design/decoration, the installation of trailers (for respite, catering and other facilities).
When filming is finished we also presume that they will have to deconstruct said sets and leave the location looking exactly as it looked when the Terminator (2019) team arrived; so just because May 15th to June 8th is mentioned (regarding this location life in the production’s schedule) it does not necessarily mean that filming is taking place for this entire duration of time.
