Paramount Pictures Confirmed for Terminator 5

Paramount Terminator

Deadline.com got the exclusive earlier today on the funding three-way as both Ellison’s (Megan and David- children of Oracle helmer Larry Ellison) are to chip in 33% of the movie’s budget with Paramount Pictures putting in the rest. Since buying the franchise back in 2011 at Cannes, Ms. Ellison and Annapurna Pictures have set the wheels in motion for Terminator 5; with the addition of Arnold Schwarzenegger (signed on to the project since May 2011) returning as the Terminator to the possible setting of the 1940s/50s.

Paramount Pictures
Deadline.com reported:

“David and Megan, both scions of Oracle chief Larry Ellison — will finance 33% of the film’s budget, with Paramount finding the remaining third.”

So Paramount Pictures is now officially in!

This has been on the cards for some time due to Skydance Productions using Paramount to distribute their movies. Rumor has it that Paramount is struggling a little bit at the moment and a great deal of weight has been put on the success of World War Z (also a Skydance movie).

The question is… aside from the successful Star Trek into darkness (another Paramount/Skydance movie) are paramount really doing anything special these days and with a company showing signs of weakness will that have a knock on effect on T5?

Is it even possible for Hollywood to make a good Terminator movie anymore? We will have to wait and see how this one turns out…
