Linda Hamilton Talks Reprising Sarah Connor Role for Terminator: Dark Fate

Terminator Dark Fate Sarah Connor Linda Hamilton

Linda talks to Variety about the failure of the last few Terminator movies, and how Terminator: Dark Fate aims to narrow the focus back to a few core characters so that we, the fans and the wider audience, can give a shit about them once again.

Of the last few movies Linda said:

“They’re very forgettable, aren’t they?”

Linda says the last few movies are forgettable although she has not seen Terminator Genisys but did watch “most of” Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator Salvation.

Linda wanted the movies to be good but the audience majority spoke and that’s that.

On putting the focus back onto caring and being invested in the characters/story…

“You start something and you’re invested in the franchise, but somehow the characters that you care about weren’t there. Too many people, too many story points. So I think we’ve done a good job of narrowing down the focus again so it will echo the first two films,”

Linda went on to say that initially returning to Terminator was something she wasn’t interested in but she gave herself 6 weeks to consider the return…

“I gave it probably six weeks of intense thinking and consideration before deciding to do it. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to. I didn’t want it to look like a shameless money grab, I am living this quiet, lovely life that doesn’t involve being a celebrity, and you really have to think, do I really want to trade that in again for another 15 minutes?”

Variety then asked Linda how many films she has signed on for and her reaction obviously says she can’t give an answer…

She said:

“I’m going to fake my own death so I don’t have to do another one.”
