Linda Hamilton IS BACK as Sarah Connor for TERMINATOR 6 – T2 SEQUEL!

Linda Hamilton Sarah Connor Terminator 6

She’s Back

This is everything we wanted from the franchise (kinda) SARAH CONNOR IS BACK for Terminator 6! In our opinion actress Linda Hamilton has needed to return to this franchise for a long time and they should never have killed her off… the repercussions of which are that every movie since Terminator 2: Judgment Day will now seemingly be ignored and deservedly so!

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will pass the baton to new characters.

James Cameron said the following as the special Terminator announcement:

“As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return.”

“There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys,” he said, referring to aging male actors still anchoring movies, “but there isn’t an example of that for women.”

Sadly Linda will not be the focus; as this will pass the baton to new characters but this is good news-ish (Hamilton’s return being that good news) but is James Cameron contradicting himself by searching for an 18 year old leading lady for the movie?

“We’re starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story,” Cameron said. “We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it.”

Folding time? Mostly new characters? Is this merging timelines to explain away actor changes eg. John Connor perhaps (no Furlong) etc. Time will reveal all…

To have new characters is not a problem but to take the focus away from Hamilton’s Sarah Connor is slightly worrying and somewhat negates the whole “setting the example for women”- of an older woman being able to hold her own and to carry an entire movie as a lead character. Linda Hamilton should be the focus and we think the torch-passing ideology should have waited for the second movie in this proposed trilogy but that is just our opinion!
We think Hamilton and Schwarzenegger have more movies in them, so why not let them shine in this movie without putting the focus on an 18 year old (feels like a sex appeal twitter trend casting clause to the production and investors) just like the Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney casting of Terminator Genisys…

Regardless of questions marks hanging over the next movie- we are more than happy that Linda Hamilton is involved with Terminator 6… now this is starting to feel like a real Terminator movie but it does feel a little disappointing to be passing the torch so quickly when we have only just got back one of the biggest stars of this franchise (bar Schwarzenegger).

The writers of Terminator 6 also revealed…

Cameron is producing along with Skydance. And the new film, which will be distributed by Paramount with Fox handling it internationally, is based on a story crafted by Cameron. Cameron and Miller created a writers room to hammer out what is planned to be a trilogy that can stand as single movies or form an overarching story. David Goyer, whose credits include the Blade and Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies; Charles Eglee, who created Dark Angel with Cameron; Josh Friedman, who created the Terminator TV spinoff, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Justin Rhodes, a frequent Goyer collaborator, were part of that room.
