Linda Hamilton Doesn’t Want to Disappoint Terminator Fans with ‘Dark Fate’

Linda Hamilton Terminator: Dark Fate Behind The Scenes

Regardless of how Terminator: Dark Fate turns out, we know there is one beautiful and very talented actress that would never disappoint and that, of course, is Linda Hamilton the heart of the Terminator franchise (not to offend the other great talent that has starred in the movies).

Linda Hamilton has already proved herself twice already and like we said; even if T:DF doesn’t turn out a masterpiece – Linda will be on top form as the glue of three Terminator stories. While it will be fun to witness the return of Arnold, and to give some new characters a chance to cement themselves into the lore, the reason we are even still interested in T:DF is because of Linda.

We know it took three phone calls and a lengthy email from Jim Cameron to even get Linda to consider coming back, as she didn’t want it to be a money grab or embarrassing a character that she had retired on a total high, this of course is why she didn’t participate in Terminator 3 – because it didn’t expand or progress the character and also partly out of respect for James Cameron.

Promoting Terminator: Dark Fate, Linda told Den of Geek:

“There had to be something new to say, or something new for me to play as a character, because I’m not going to just do this endless loop. It had to be good, to not disappoint the fans, and not disappoint Sarah Connor herself, who lives inside of me somewhere. She’s been mine for 35 years, and I just wanted to make sure that it would be in the running of the first two films, or I would be terribly embarrassed. And it would look like a shameless money grab. It’s like, I’m not about that.”

On one of the meetings with Tim Miller to discuss the progression of Sarah Connor – Linda told Tim…

“I don’t want to be a figurehead. I don’t want to be like I’m just here because you’re using my name to sell [the movie] and boy, was I ever wrong. I worked so hard, and they came up with great stuff. I’m not a figurehead or a cameo here.”

On today’s highly technological society Hamilton said…

“I told you so.

It might have seemed a bit far-fetched in the ’80s, but it is not at all far-fetched. I mean, AI stalks. There is just so much going on in today’s world that mirrors the prophecies that we told back then. And, you know, we’re not even that far from time travel. We’re close to sort of bringing it all right into today’s world.”

Overall, it is nice to hear Linda wanted to do this for the right reasons and her interest in reconnecting with her character all these years on, is a treat for many Terminator Fans.
We hope that everything Linda was sold on is true and the film matches a level of quality that she deserves. Let’s hope Terminator: Dark Fate doesn’t let the fans or Linda Hamilton down.

Everyone needs another good Terminator movie.
