John Connor Actors Want To Do Terminator Sequels

John Connor Actors Who Want Sequels Terminator 7

Well, re-doing Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines with a retcon, AKA Terminator: Dark Fate, was a failure with the box office (and with many fans), and now previous John Connor actors would seemingly like to return to the franchise.

Michael Edwards

Back in 2017, when we didn’t know what Terminator 6 would be, other than really wanting it to be a true sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day (which we, and a number of fans, pushed for for a long while), we approached the original, and first, on screen John Connor (Michael Edwards) to see if he would be willing to reprise the role…

Would you be interested in reprising the role of John Connor for Terminator 6,  in a lead role alongside your on screen mother Linda Hamilton for a true Terminator 2 sequel (John Connor travels back to the present)?

TheTerminatorFans.com

Yes, I’d love to be involved in Terminator 6. It would be a blast.

Michael Edwards

Sadly, due to the actor’s current age, this probably won’t happen (unless we stretch the timeline beyond 2029, or flash forward) but Edwards is to many the face of adult John Connor.

Michael Edwards was initially considered to reprise the role of General John Connor in 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines but instead, the production decided on age make-up and prosthetics, which were to be applied to Nick Stahl.

In a 2010 interview, legendary Terminator make-up artist, Jeff Dawn told TheTerminatorFans.com

“Yeah, actually the actor who played the older John Connor in T2 just looked a little too old for the role of a 40-45 year old.
They looked at many actors and extras to play the older John Connor but then we just said “Let’s just put an old age prosthetic on Nick Stahl” Nick was wonderful to work with.”

Edward Furlong Still Wants a Return

Young John Connor aka Edward Furlong (who is all grown up now) stated previously that he was, apparently, more than willing to perform *ahem* fellatio, to get a chance to be John Connor again – and, according to a new interview that statement pretty much still stands…

In a more recent interview with Wizard World:

“Would you ever return to the Terminator franchise, if an opportunity presented itself?”

“Oh f*ck yeah dude! You kidding me?”

“I’m not gonna lie, I saw an interview, uh, that was put up online; you made a very strong declaration of what you would be willing to do to get back in that franchise – I hope no-one holds you to that… “

“Oh yeah? I probably said that I’d, like, suck somebody’s c*ck to be in that sh*t, right?”

Edward Furlong | Transcribed by TheTerminatorFans.com

“You did! I lost it… “

It’s not far off, dude, you know what I mean?

Listen, it was a good franchise! I get it, I get it, one hundred percent!

I need money, man!

Terminator: Dark Fate director Tim Miller told TIFF, of the decision the bump off John Connor, and Furlong’s apparent dislike of the idea:

“Oddly enough, not Jim, not a single writer, uh, not Linda, not anybody – but perhaps Eddie Furlong, had anything at all to say but ‘Oh yeah, this seems like the right way to do it.’”

Nick Stahl Has changed His Mind and Would Like Another Shot

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines‘ John Connor, Nick Stahl, was recently interviewed by ViacomCBS / Paramount Pictures‘ website comicbook.com, about his new movie ‘Hunter Hunter‘ when the subject of Terminator arose…

Nick said:

“No. Short answer. I haven’t heard anything about a new Terminator movie.”

Nick Stahl

And…

“I don’t know, man. I did the one film and I was there, so, yeah. Wish I had a more exciting answer for you, but that’s it.”

Nick Stahl

When asked about the potential for his iteration of the legendary hero making a comeback for a new Terminator movie, Nick said:

“I would jump at the opportunity, I love those movies, I grew up watching Terminator movies and was just thrilled to be a part of that role in that franchise. So, yeah, that would be something I would love to do.”

Nick Stahl

Nick Stahl was interviewed back in 2008 by MTV, about the cessation of his involvement with the franchise, in the lead up to Christian Bale filming Terminator Salvation.

Nick stated that:

“I don’t care really, to be honest, I don’t have much interest.”

Nick Stahl

Of the casting for Terminator Salvation…

They said it would be a 50-year-old man, but I guess they reduced the age a little bit. That’s what they told me very early on [in development of the ‘Salvation’ script]. That it was gonna take place further in the future, and I probably wouldn’t be on.”

Nick Stahl

“I love the franchise, and I love the movies, so I’ll probably be seeing the fourth one.”

Jason Clarke on ‘wishful thinking’ for his John Connor

In March 2019 Terminator Genisys‘ John Connor, Jason Clarke, was interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter about ‘Pet Sematary‘, when, you guessed it, the topic of Terminator popped up

“Everyone wanted that Terminator to work. The stories that came afterward were really exciting. You do look at things and say…‘I wish James [Cameron] had been more involved as he is now [with the upcoming 2019 film].

Christian Bale’s John Connor Regrets

in 2018 Christian Bale was interviewed to promote the movie ‘Hostiles‘, and was asked what had motivated his agreeing to star in Terminator Salvation

I said no three times, I thought that the franchise… I went ‘nah, there’s no story there.‘ I’d been and enjoyed the, um, I’d seen the first one and enjoyed that back in England. I’d been to the movies and seen the second one. Um, it was an unfortunate series of events, um involving the writers strike, involving Jonah Nolan, who um, was able to come on and really start to write a wonderful script, but then got called away um, for a prior commitment that he had. And it’s a great thorn in my side, because, I, I wish we could have reinvigorated that, and um, unfortunately during production you could tell that wasn’t happening. But it’s a great shame.”

Where do we go? Do we get back all the John Connor actors and spider-verse (multiverse) the shit out of the Terminator franchise? Or do we retcon Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines again, this time with Edward Furlong, and make a sequel to T2 – retcon Terminator Salvation with Nick Stahl, or make a prequel to Terminator Salvation without disturbing the timeline, and make a sequel to Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines that acts as a prequel to Terminator Salvation
Or do we bring Jason Clarke back for a sequel to Terminator Genisys?
One final option, we get Michael Edwards back to be hardened, older, post war John Connor… So many options… it just shows you how badly Hollywood messed this franchise up.

One thing’s for sure though; if the franchise continues then the majority of fans want John Connor back.

So, from the many faces of John Connor; who would you like to see potentially reprising the role of the legendary leader of the human Resistance for a future Terminator movie?
