Jason Clarke Talks Genisys Cancelled Sequels and Terminator: Dark Fate

Jason Clarke John Connor Terminator Genisys

You wanted more Terminator Genisys sequels right? Well, we didn’t but some people actually did but they couldn’t even muster up the 50-60 million dollars to make the production shoot into back to back Genisys sequels.

While promoting HBO series Catherine the Great HEY U GUYS shared their love for Genisys and Clarke’s portrayal of John Connor and asked him about the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate…

Jason Clarke said:

“I would have loved to have done [the planned sequels]…we only fell $50m or $60m short of an automatic bang into [Films]2 and 3 as one. And they had written some very exciting stuff.”

Jason Clarke told HEY U GUYS that he bumped into David Ellison (movie rights holder and producer behind Terminator Genisys and Dark Fate) on a plane journey to promote his (Jason’s) new show and David gave him an update about the new Terminator movie out on November 1st 2019.

“He’s telling me about Linda [Hamilton, who returns in her iconic role as Sarah Connor], and what they’ve gone through…the work she put in to getting back to what she wanted to be. In the trailer – you saw it – she’s a proper unit. And you know what? It’s her and Arnold…and James that the story belongs to. I’m happy for them.”

Jason Clarke also, not that long ago, told The Hollywood Reporter that he had wished James Cameron had been more involved with Terminator Genisys in the way he is more involved with Terminator: Dark Fate

“You do look at things and say … ‘I wish James had been more involved, as he is now; maybe they should’ve hidden the story a bit better.’ Retrospection is easy, but of course, you let them go. There’s no point in hanging on to the what-ifs.”

While we think the casting, concept and execution for Terminator Genisys was a steaming pile of… expletives, we appreciate Jason Clarke, his humble attitude and well, he is great actor who was wasted on Genisys anyway.

Rock on Jason, and we look forward to seeing you in good movies!
