How to Find The Terminator in GTA Online Los Santos 'Tuners' Update

Fancy witnessing a call back to Terminator 2: Judgment Day, James Cameron, Sarah Connor and The Terminator (T-800) in GTA Online?

To experience the new GTA Online Terminator Easter Eggs you need to visit the Maze Bank Foreclosures website to buy an auto shop; the cheapest auto shop is located in Mission Row (south-eastern Downtown Los Santos) which has a ‘no frills’ base price of $1,670,000. Upon purchasing the property you will then be able to set a waypoint to the auto shop garage to begin the missions.

The Terminator easter eggs are part of the ‘Access Point‘ mission, one of the set up missions for ‘The Prison Contract‘.

The Terminator easter egg can spawn in two locations: the Los Santos Storm Drain, or the Richards Majestic movie studio. It’s randomized. You will know which one you have by the mission prompt at the bottom of the screen.

If for some reason you want a particular location, just exit the game / close the app and try starting up the mission again from the auto shop. Due to the nature of the missions on the board in the auto shop; if you do decide to complete the mission it may be some time before you can play this mission again, as the availability of missions is also seemingly random.

Los Santos is of course based on the Californian city of Los Angeles, real world locations of which have appeared in the Terminator movies.

The Terminator easter egg is the same in both locations, and the same scenario / vehicles also spawn; a director (which would be James Cameron) stands talking to two movie stars, one female (who would of course be Sarah Connor), and the other is a leather clad shotgun wielding actor who opens fire if you get near the movie set, this is no doubt reference to Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s The Terminator.

A couple of truck cabs similar to the T-1000‘s vehicle of choice are nearby, the 1979 Buick LeSabre AKA ‘Freightliner’ and also two Harley Davidson Fat Boy‘s – the vehicle was Arnold Schwarzenegger’s main vehicle in T2: Judgment Day. You must use one of the truck cabs in the mission after putting the Terminator down (double check it doesn’t get back up if you think it’s down, there is a chance it isn’t, very much like the Terminator movies).

Los Santos Storm Drain

The Los Angeles flood canal / storm drain is one of the most memorable chase sequence locations from the Terminator movies. In Terminator 2: Judgment Day we saw Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 Terminator race against time on a Harley Davidson Fat Boy to save a young dirt bike riding John Connor (Edward Furlong) from the deadly pursuit of an advanced prototype Terminator (T-1000) portrayed by Robert Patrick.

Richards Majestic movie studio

A little more obscure, but still a reference in itself; Richards Majestic is based on Paramount Pictures movie studio. Paramount Pictures also have a hand in the Terminator 2 rights and worked with the studio responsible for Terminator Genisys and Terminator: Dark FateSkydance Media. Skydance Media and Terminator producer / movie rights holder David Ellison also have offices on the Paramount Studio lot.

It does feel like maybe the studios / rights holders of Terminator collaborated on this easter egg with Rockstar in an effort to repair the damage Terminator: Dark Fate did to the franchise.

Shout out to Youtube channel GTA Series Videos for reporting on the easter egg that homages Terminator, James Cameron and Sarah Connor in their coverage of the new Los Santos Tuners update for GTA Online.
