Happy Birthday Gale Anne Hurd; The First Lady of Terminator and Sci-Fi

Gale Anne Hurd The Terminator

One of our disappointments (among a few) with the latest Terminator movie is that the original producer and person who green-lit James Cameron’s career; is nowhere in sight. When it comes to producing, Gale Anne Hurd is the real deal and she has deservedly earned the status of “The First Lady of Sci-Fi”.
Don’t get us wrong,- it is phenomenal to have James Cameron attached to Terminator 6 as an Executive Producer and as a Creative Consultant but Jim is so damn entangled and entwined with the Avatar franchise (directing back to back sequels), farming sheep, growing grain and peas that it would have made serious sense to have had Gale Anne Hurd working with him to keep an eye on the ball; something that Jim obviously can’t do 24/7 on the project. Gale can do most jobs on set, something she was known for first, before James Cameron himself got that very same reputation, it feels like Gale Anne Hurd is a forgotten asset- she is someone who helped make Terminator successful in the first place.

In our opinion Terminator 6 needs Gale Anne Hurd, if the Terminator is going to venture into the TV format again it needs Gale Anne Hurd (look at the longevity of The Walking Dead) and if you want to bring back Terminator to Universal Theme Parks it is also going to help in having Gale involved as she is directly affiliated with Universal at this point in time.

Terminator 6 is also severely in need of more female influence behind the scenes, as all we have right now is Dana Goldberg (producer of Terminator Genisys) and no female writers or creatives. This causes us some concern when it comes to the resurrection of Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor character as Gale understood the character’s importance. Having two hands-on female producers working alongside David Ellison would be so much better for the project and increase that female voice in the politically rampant equality/feminist wars being waged in Hollywood like the *cough* Wonder Woman *cough* argument.

It always felt like if James Cameron would be back then so would Gale and it would feel like a return to the old school of film-making but James Cameron is not as hands-on as we would like, yes, we would love him to be riding up and down the Terminator 6 set in a golf buggy swearing at people but we could also have had the First Lady of Sc-Fi standing on the horizon like a machine making sure the cogs are well oiled and turning for greatness from morning til night of every day of the shoot with a neural net up-link to James Cameron himself.

Gale is currently launching Lore TV and the first episode will feature Robert Patrick (awesome) and her Documentary MANKILLER; a Documentary Film Celebrating the Life of Wilma Mankiller, the first woman to be elected Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, which won Best Documentary Feature at the Tulsa American Film Festival!

Congratulations and a big Happy Birthday to Gale Anne Hurd!
