Happy Birthday Edward Furlong and Sam Worthington

Edward Furlong Sam Worthington

The upcoming Terminator 2 3D (the movie not the ride) will see the return of a real John Connor in the form of Edward Furlong. Furlong provided us with John Connor in T2: Judgment Day and reprised the role for T2:3D Battle Across Time at Universal resorts/theme-parks around the world.

TheTerminatorFans.com would love to see Edward put some muscle on and convince the world he is capable of reprising the role and reuniting with his on-screen mother Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) for a new movie but it sadly doesn’t look like it is happening because Paramount and Skydance are wasting precious time (for the original generation hardcore Terminator Fans that want a continuation and Jim Cameron trilogy). Edward is still acting and starring in movies and TV; most notably he is attached to the recently kickstarted Star Trek series “Renegades” which hardcore Star Trek fans seem to be more excited about than the Star Trek reboot movies of Skydance.

Episode 1 of Renegades is online and if you are an Edward Furlong fan you need to check it out for his character called Fixer- who we definitely found unique and interesting even more so by the end of the episode. The show is also darker in tone as the episode progresses, featuring blood and violence but it never goes gratuitously over the top. While Renegades first episode lacks a little polish or any official studio backing; there is huge potential for a series on an official level, it has returning cast, new characters but totally looks to respect what has come before and the history of Star Trek. The slightly darker tone would also attract fans who might not be interested in the more sanitized version of Star Trek as produced by Skydance.
Providing the show can stay consistent we would continue to watch this for Furlong’s Fixer. Perhaps a special prequel episode might also be nice; to see more back story of Fixer- to flesh out the character more and give some spotlight to Edward.

We decided to speak to a Star Trek and fan ask them how they feel about Renegades:

In the past the shows have always been more willing to accept diversity. So, like me if you watched all the various series’ there were crossovers and they gave a shit about the characters and continuity because the fans gave a shit about it and in that sense I am very excited to watch Renegades continue because so far it feels more true to the Star Trek Universe that I grew up with.

Pre-Production has also begun on a film called Karma starring Edward…

A group of thieves meet up in the desert to retrieve stolen money and Karma takes it’s toll as bad things begin to occur.

Happy Birthday Eddie!

Happy Birthday to Sam Worthington who played Marcus Wright in Terminator Salvation, may fans have stated that they would have preferred a Salvation 2 over Terminator Genisys and agree it would have been more interesting than Genisys plus a better way to kill the time in the lead up to Jim Cameron getting the Terminator rights back. Sam Worthington was recommended for the role of Marcus by Jim himself, obviously with Avatar looming to follow Salvation’s release it was a smart business decision but also he thought Sam was capable of the role- which he was.

Many fans wondered if Sam Worthington would return as a bad Terminator once his heart has been removed at the end of Salvation in his sacrifice for Christian Bale to survive for the next movie.

Sam Worthington signed on for an R Rated Terminator movie but the studios switched tactics mid-production. The lack of R Rating is what lead to the movie being stripped down and the original darker vision being omitted to the cutting room floor. Half of the movie always felt like it was missing and it more or less is.

However Sam got to go R Rated with Arnold Schwarzenegger for David Ayer’s Sabotage a movie featuring two of Cyberdyne’s best performing Terminator units.

Sam has four movies this year in post-production; The Shack, The Titan, Hunter’s Prayer and Hacksaw Ridge as well as being listed on IMDb for Avatar 2, 3 and 4; returning as Jake Sully.

Happy Birthday Sam!

They share the same birthday so how about a movie starring Sam Worthington and Edward Furlong as the leads?
