Exclusive: Terminator Genisys Composer Replaced with Lorne Balfe – Executive Produced by Hans Zimmer

Hans Zimmer Lorne Balfe

According to various worldwide official Terminator Genisys websites (not the official English/American websites) a change has been made in the credits.

Christophe Beck (above) is no longer listed as the composer on the worldwide credit listings; instead Lorne Balfe is listed for ‘Music’ and Hans Zimmer is listed as ‘Executive Music Producer’.

Lorne Balfe (below) has produced such video game music as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed III and Revelations, and the Skylanders franchise. Also movie trailers.

This would basically mean that Lorne Balfe would be responsible for creating riffs and compositions, structuring them and then Zimmer would oversee, possibly master the production and possibly offer advice for Balfe or input. Balfe should be capable as he is famous for composing movie trailers and computer games (like Assasins Creed) but having the Zimmer name attached will lend the project more validation in the guise of old school 80’s famous composer to the project with many fans still mentioning Brad Fiedel regularly in the fan base.

There is no other news of this change and there has been no official announcement of the change yet, but attaching Hans Zimmer to the project is a smart move in terms of business and having an old school well known composer name attached to the project.

Could the plan be to provide different soundtracks for different countries on Terminator Genisys or was Christophe Beck not gelling well with the project musically. Slightly confusing but maybe this will get addressed soon.

Terminator Genisys – Germany website as an example lists the following credits…
