Exclusive: No Terminator 6 Movie is Currently in Development

We  have received news from a source close to the production of Terminator Genisys who contacted TheTerminatorFans.com with the following information today…

There is no new Terminator film being prepped.

It doesn’t mean another movie won’t happen, but at the moment there is no pre-production taking place. Maybe a completely new script is being worked on especially if the whole Genisys concept is (rightly) now in the toilet.

Terminator Genisys sequels (Terminator 6 and Terminator 7) were initially planned to be filmed back to back for Asia (and the rest of the extended universe). The Baywatch movie has replaced the Terminator 6 slot already for 2017 and is currently filming. The movie is also a reboot as casting suggests that The Rock is playing Mitch Buchanan.

As more confirmation of what our reliable source says; Emilia Clarke has also told ComingSoon.net that she will not be starring as Sarah Connor in any more Terminator movies. Skydance and Paramount are still apparently readjusting but according to Schwarzenegger; he is sure Terminator 6 is going ahead.

You can’t reboot Terminator easily or fill the boots of Linda Hamilton (The Real Sarah Connor); we never wanted Linda to be replaced/killed off-screen or rebooted out of the franchise,- she is the core of the franchise to us and the one who made us believe in the world of Terminator. We do want Linda to return as a veteran actor of the series and the rights revert to Jim Cameron could allow that to happen. We want serious groundbreaking ‘films’ not throw-away popcorn trash. Erasing the very story, actors and timeline fans cared about was never going to end well.

Skydance Media (Formerly Skydance Productions) has 3 years left to make another terminator movie before the rights revert back to James Cameron in 2019. The other strategy could be not to bother at all and that is totally up to them as the current owners of the property. If they want to bring Emilia Clarke and company back then nothing will stop them. There are a number of ways the studios could recharge the Terminator franchise, but will they take the necessary risks and do the hefty legwork involved…

Skydance and Paramount didn’t handle the property correctly and it frustrates us, we hope that they try harder (if there is a next time), that they listen to the fans and take our tastes more seriously, to connect more with the wants and needs of the people who actually care and not just targeting bizarre demographics which rely on fad followers, trends and tweens.

Has the market grown tired of the franchise? Terminator now feels like a parody, like some old Hollywood star wheeled out of retirement to perform the same stale old gags- long after the fame and notoriety have faded; long after the passion has gone.

If Terminator Genisys is the last EVER Terminator movie then… what an undignified death.

So will they reboot the reboot, or leave this mess for Jim and Gale to fix when he gets the rights back? Or should they just stop making Terminator movies for good?
