Exclusive: Michael Biehn Sets Record Straight On Alien 5 Speculation

Alien 5 news is hot and even though the movie has apparently been shelved (for now at least) it remains to be a fan favorite that movie-goers want to be a reality- but those pesky studio executives sure know how to dangle carrots and they sure do dangle them damn well.

A recent interview with Michael Biehn saw huge spoilers entering the ether and the news is storming the internet in what the interview quoted as Michael Biehn saying that this was the passing of the torch to a new actress to play the Newt character and other considerable plot teases etc.

The following is an excerpt from Icons of Fright interview with Biehn being cited on the internet:

They’re talking about doing another ALIENS movie, with Neill Blomkamp, and Fox came and announced it and Sigourney (Weaver) has come out and announced it. The basic idea is acting like ALIEN3 and 4 never existed, so if you go on Neill Blomkamp’s site, everyone can see all of the artwork for that. I know Ridley Scott is doing his movie first and is going to be the executive producer on this one, so I’m really looking forward to that. I know that Ridley’s focus is on the second PROMETHEUS (now titled ALIEN: COVENANT) and I’m sure that he and Fox both don’t want that and Neill’s movie to come out right next to each other, because they’re kind of two different worlds, with ALIENS taking place thousands of years later, which is how they explained it all to me, but at the same time, they want to give them a similar feel. I know they’re putting the brakes on Neill’s movie just for a little while, but I really think that it would be embarrassing to Ridley and Fox and Sigourney if they just didn’t make the movie.

Michael Biehn then made a post to Facebook stating that he was purely speculating what the plot could be and obviously if he knew the plot as a professional actor he wouldn’t do such a thing before a movie was released or had yet gone into production.

We have took time to speak to representatives of Michael Biehn who confirm that this is his official Facebook and the following post is genuine!

The press sometimes has a way of misinterpreting what is actually said. When I was interviewed and asked what my…

A representative for Michael Biehn stated the following to TheTerminatorFans.com:

The interviewer clearly misunderstood the context of Michael’s words and as a result he has sadly been misrepresented, and very much wishes to set the record straight. Anything previously stated was pure speculation on Michael’s part as to where the franchise could possibly head in the future; with ideas that have already been speculated by fans.

We could speculate ourselves over Alien 5… all day… *dream sequence* … should they ignore Alien 3… ? should they make it canon as fans truly deserve… ? Alien 3 is not so much considered the failure it once was, it did stay true to the original movies tone and isolation. If we are to ignore any Alien film our candidate would be Alien Resurrection.

Prometheus didn’t float our boat (check out our review here) and if speculation is the topic of the day then Alien: Covenant could indeed be a merge of Alien 5 and a Prometheus sequel (we could be wrong). Ripley and Hicks can still be alive but we really do determine Newt dead and if they think that bringing Newt back is a good idea then surely they would have to go to the original actress,- otherwise why bother to make a fatal mistake. This is the worst age of movie making since the early 2000’s; a digital factory of shittily loud, brash summer-blockbuster-movies, we want ‘films’ and ‘stories’ and to give an example to a generation quite frankly lacking in any real talent, to show them how it’s done. To say with utter conviction and love, that the movies we’re making today will stand the test of time. That they’ll be so good they outlive us all- and they deserve to. That younger generations will love these films like we do and pass them on to the generation after them.
Having Ripley and Hicks carrying the torch for a movie or two is the only thing that would be interesting to us. Don’t tell us you are making 3 movies, filming this movie back to back with this movie. Make the movie, let the fans decide if they want more… Look at Terminator Genisys, do you want sequels to that shit? The people who settle for any old crap yes… the people who want a believable, dark reality, displayed on screen- instead get handed steaming PG-13 trash and we all have to grin and bear it.

Alien 5: Bring back Ripley and Hicks, make it canon (don’t ignore A3), bring back the real Newt or keep that character dead or fucking clone her or some shit if you’re desperate 20th century.

If Alien 5 has been merged into Alien: Covenant: Keep an eye on Ridley (Prometheus was bad) and blow up David and Shaw and swap them out with Weaver and Biehn. Use a bloody wormhole just sort this out before the Alien franchise becomes as bad Terminator has.

Long live the real Kyle Reese and bring back Hicks.

One more thing… if the studio wants real success; they need Gale Anne Hurd as an Executive Producer. She said she would return if a certain director did too…

Could Jim Cameron return for an Alien sequel and place himself back at the top as a king of sci-fi (and the world) just before getting ownership back of Terminator in 2018/19. Can he bring the horror back to mainstream Hollywood or would Ridley oppose such a notion to make sure his risk-free Prometheus story gets told without any interruptions?

As a big Hollywood studio will 20th Century Fox make the leap others haven’t and start listening to fans?
