Exclusive: Gale Anne Hurd Talks Future Terminator, Alien and The Walking Dead Movies

Gale Anne Hurd Producer

“The First Lady of Sci-Fi” Gale Anne Hurd is currently busy producing The Walking Dead and also fundraising on Kickstarter with a documentary she is very passionate about; #MANKILLER which is about historical female figure Wilma Mankiller.

Gale kindly answered the following questions for TheTerminatorFans.com…

You obviously want to approach the true story of Wilma Mankiller in the correct way. When working on a historical story of significance like this; is producing a factual documentary more challenging than say, your work in the world of fiction?

Absolutely. When you are telling the true story of such a remarkable woman, it’s absolutely essential not to have preconceived notions. We are not following a script; instead we are letting her life and legacy be our guide along a path of discovery. It’s remarkable when you think about it: a woman was elected the leader of the sovereign Cherokee Nation within the United States three times and yet most people don’t even know Wilma Mankiller’s name!

Alien 5 seems to be moving ahead, it is said to be more a continuation of Aliens (but still possibly keeping the series fully canon) would you consider that world again- producing a new Alien movie?

Of course, if I could partner with Jim Cameron again to bring it to life!

If you made Terminator again… what age classification/rating would you be aiming for?

I think that would flow from the story and how best to tell it. If we were making the same film now, it would still be R-rated.

What are the chances of a theatrical ‘The Walking Dead’ movie?

We have our hands full with the original series and now the companion series, so it may be a while now before a feature is even under consideration. But never say never!

So there you have it… it looks like Gale Anne Hurd and Jim Cameron may have possible plans to revisit the Terminator and Alien franchise in the future. The fans are forever waiting. We would love nothing more than this creative power team to reunite for new epic movies and story-telling. Sounds good to us, the idea of of a new installment of Terminator and Alien from the duo in the future would definitely have us running to the theater.
