Exclusive: Carolco Pictures Funding Info & Official Website Now Activated

Mario Kassar Carolco Pictures

As previously reported; Carolco Pictures the studio behind power house movies like Terminator 2, Rambo 1, 2 & 3 and Total Recall is back!

When we first tried to access the company’s website around the announcement of the company’s revival we were greeted with the following web page…

Checking back a few of days ago we saw that the website has now activated like a machine that has been in sleep mode for decades and has awoken in a new world of generally bad movies (the majority of movies these days)…

Carolco Pictures website is now fully activated and ready to follow its original studio programming of bringing great stories and visual spectacles back to the big screen.

The initial 2015 restart of Carolco Pictures seems to have focus on creating story-driven movies, that put the focus back on storytelling rather than smashing back onto the scene with mindless action movies which generally under-perform at the box-office (more so now than ever). I hope this is something Carolco maintains in its future operation as a movie studio. Indie/low budget story/character driven movies are the movies capturing the magic of old cinema on the big screen and also connecting with movie-goers via our hearts and minds.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day- producer Mario Kassar is now back at the top of his game with a company he was obviously very passionate about and we at TheTerminatorFans.com are excited to see what the future of Carolco will bring movie-goers and what Mario Kassar holds up his sleeve… this man is almost as unstoppable as a villainous Terminator from the first two movies (in a business sense of course).

On speaking to a representative of Carolco Pictures TheTerminatorFans.com were told the following information about a boost to the company with a…

“$25,000,000 offering that the company is undertaking.”

Carolco continued to state that:

“It is all very exciting here and we have some interesting players and projects.”

25,000,000 dollars is more than four times what it cost to make the first Terminator movie back in 1984.

After Carolco’s disintegration Mario was still passionate about Terminator and fought on through legal hell to get a third picture made with the production company C-2 Pictures. Even Carolco had a sequel (C2 ala T2). C2 was formed in 2002 by Carolco Pictures co-founders Mario Kassar and Andrew G. Vajna. The studio was mainly formed to bring Terminator back.

Just like Terminator Salvation was to have a sequel, this was also the plan for T3 but with The Terminator turning Governator it just wasn’t on the cards for how the sequel would have played out possibly involving Arnold’s return as the T-850 assassinating John Connor, being captured, reprogrammed by Claire Danes (Kathryn Brewster) and then sent back to help Nick Stahl’s John Connor in the present.  However if you were a gamer you saw all this in the video game – Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, whilst the FPS shooter is now dated it did connect to the movie and fill in those gaps for fans, something Mario Kassar was deeply involved in. We had the pleasure of re-completing the game recently and there are many easter eggs to be found in the game.

Talks of a new Carolco Terminator style of movie is also in early stages. Could Carolco reunite with Terminator in the future? Would Carolco be of high interest to Writers/producers and director (Gale Anne Hurd and Jim Cameron) they have both hinted at possible wishes to reboot the series Gale Anne Hurd being especially fond and attached to the material. Mario, Gale and Jim should do lunch and talk Terminator to decide some kind of “Future Fate” for the franchise when it returns to ownership of Jim Cameron/Original property owners (the exact legalities and specifics have never been revealed) the year 2018/2019 have been thrown around the internet many times but we always believed this would occur in the year 2018 due to The Halcyon Company setting the forth movie Terminator Salvation in the year 2018 an ironic nod to their initially believed life of them being the rights owners before Hedge Fund Pacificor got involved with bankruptcy and re-sale of the franchise to Annapurna Pictures (Megan Ellison) then the pass-over to Skydance Productions (David Ellison).

Carolco Pictures are now producing a handful of projects and have a Terminator style movie under wraps. Would you like to see the company that brought you Terminator 2: Judgment Day back and involved with a future Terminator movie?

TheTerminatorFans.com is in the belief that if Mario ever has a chance to be involved with Terminator again he would- he displays passion. Gale Anne Hurd is also very passionate whilst Jim Cameron… not so much, or he pretends not to care as much. The future of the Terminator franchise could be longer than anyone anticipated as long as Mr. Cameron allows it to be so.
